Hello, am currently looking for options for my old man, I've convinced him to change over to a motorised satellite system for the HD benefits really as there's sod all on cable.

Been looking at getting a humax hdci2000, with a dragon cam as i've got a sly subbed card thats active.

I'm just wondering if there are any other HD receivers about, and also if the humax can be patched for the likes of premiere tps etc.

Cheers :)

technomate are supposed to be releasing one and if there other boxes are anything to go off it will be better than the humax with better support but if your really patient then wait for the dreambox 8000

Ahh, i know technomate are really good, i've fitted a couple of them systems for mates.

They need to hurry up and release it then, my old man wants to get a poxy model helicopter, so its either a satellite system, or a model... i want him to get the sat system lol.

That dreambox has been in the pipeline for god knows how long now hasnt it?

not gonna get many channels on a chopper
the dm8000 was demoed at last years anga cable fair in germany which was around june i think as this years anga was a few weeks ago,i think dreammedia are gonna lose a lot of possible sales if they dont act soon theres been talk of other hd boxes due out to tell you the truth im really fed up with waiting i bought my plasma not long after id heard about the dm8000 and i feel i should have waited and got one for half the price when i can actually watch in hd

Tele-satellite magazine have done a good review of the Topfield. If you google tele-satellite it should bring it up.

Yep, he's gone and ordered the topfield now, after having a read about.

He's also ordered a trex cam for the sky subbed card, and a diablo cam, hopefully that should be fine to clear the rest of whats about.

Shame its not a linux receiver though as card sharing is out the window i guess? im not too clued up on it, i should be though, im the 1 whos got to fit it at some point and its a chimney jobbie! just hope get enough clearance from the dish to the chimney with the motor on it, otherwise am stuffed.
