Help getting Dreambox working Please !

Hi Guys

Managed to get a day off work paid due to all the snow so thought I'd do something productive whilst the kids are at nursery !

A neighbour dropped off his Dbox for me to get working again after key roll - piece of cake - updated Nagra ROM in 5 minutes through ftp to var\keys ... ungrateful bugger then turns up 5 minutes later with this Dreambox thing and I have no idea what to do with it:-

Guessed password to be 1111 was correct (as not 0000 !)
Changed network settings so could hook up via ftp
Guessed login to be root and password as dreambox was correct
Looked in var\keys - empty !
ftp's nagrarom 7 and rebooted - nothing, only FTA !

What do I do next ... ?

Im a complete newb myself, but is there a services file in the \var\keys?
My neighbour had a similar problem and it was because there was no services file.

Thanks Archie, the folder was completely blank no services, nothing ! Anybody know what should be in the folder and where I can get it from ?

you do the dreambox the same way as the dbox2, username is root, password is dreambox just ftp files over and away you go. stick it on sky sports 1 should update.

Sorry to sound like a thicko but can you update the same images in the same way as a dbox too ? i.e. using image assistant and using an image such as Andromeda ?

No m8 - different images and different software.

Dreamup is the equivalent of image assistant

and if you look in the stickies at the top of the dreambox page there is a tut for dreamup

Did you think that his dreambox was not working even before the key rolls sounds really strange that theres nothing in /var/key?

check these if you find nothing then theres something not right

Baines - dunno but I've really buggered it up now hence the need to upload an image ...

You need a lot more files in your Keys folder than the Nagra rom mate.

Either do a search for 'Magic files' or get the Dbox2 back and copy his entire Keys folder onto your Dreambox - this will work fine as they use the exact same emulators, Nagraroms and Keyfiles.

BTW, some images need the roms stored in the SCCE folder.

Did you do a backup of your old image?
If you have then reflash it with the old backup image, copy your entire /var folder to your pc hard drive, reflash with the new image, and ftp the /var file you downloaded over to the new image, and dont forget rom7 fix
Then go into the expert setup or emu setup, etc.. and select evocamd, and turn on rom7, turn on au, and reboot the box, flick over to sky sports 1, and wait 2 mins, it should update and everythings working

Thanks Chaps I downloaded the Dream Up file and the DW image and reflashed, copied over my Key folder from my DBox2 and restarted with ROM 7 and bingo - working ... only thing is though I can't find where the bouquet and services .xls files are stored so I can update with mine ... on the DBox it's under Zapit but there isn't such a file in Dreambox 500C ?

hi all new to this dreambox 500 has stopped working and i havent a clue what to do can anyone help thanks
