pls help...currently trying to flash dw2 imaage into dreambox 500c

pls help..

my drmbox 500c is inactice, with just the green light on.

- i've been flashing /re-flashing since yesterday with dw2.img, via dreamup v1.3.2.1..
- i follow all the instructions and seem to flash box successfully.
- i've tried both 'yes and no' to flash-erase' during the dreamup procedure
- but when i remove the power from my box, and re-power on, the green light appears, but i can't turn it on/off...it's inactive..

i've connected drmbox 500c with a null modem to the PC.

i have not connected my box to the tv or to VM's cable yet; just to the PC...

pls help, i'm currently trying to wake the box up

Get it hooked up to the tv and cable feed,it should be ok then.

thanks......i got it home y'nite and connected to my vm cable and tv, but the box was still frozen......just the green light...i couldnt turn it off/on, unless by taking the power cable out.

i'm currently updating the box at my friend's house.....he's not got any cable tv whatsoever

How long did you leave it hooked up? It can take a 3 or 4 minutes to setup after first boot.

maybe 1 or 2 min.....bcos the box was inactive witha blank screen, o just unplugged the power cable...

pls note, o flashed the box withoiut connecting it to any tv/vm cable...just via null modem and dreamup/dw2.....i just unplugged the drmbox after exiting the dreamup software........was this right ?

Sounds like you're doing everything right..
But it doesn't matter if you have the box hooked up to the tv and VM whilst doing the flash..

All i can suggest is that you do a complete Flash Erase and start from the beginning..

i used the 'erase.img' successfully.

i then used dreamup + dw2.img from the download section [when saving the dow2 downlaod, i change it from '.rar' to .img'....is that correct ?

when flashing, i noticed that the green light on the drmbox 500c began switching between red and green [during the uploading flash stage; suggesting that something was being uploaded].....i then exited dreamup afterwards, and unplugged the drmbox; but when i re-plugged later, the drmbox only had the greenlight on, and is still inactive.....i kept vm cable + tv scart connection in the drmbox throughout the nite, but still same inactivity this morning.

i have now switched it off, but not sure i'd get any joy when i turnon later....

i have not had any problems with dreamup recognising my box during flashing,etc....

would you suggest re-using the 'erase.img' to re-erase, and re-flash several times ?...or shd i not be saving the dw2.rar as dw2.img when saving to my PC ??......the null modem[maplins] seems to be working OK...during flashing, i've used both the 'yes' and 'no' options when it comes to 'flash-erase'...

what could i be doing wrong ?

No save as is
then extract it you should then have a .img flash this to the box

in the past, when i saved it as '.rar' to my PC, when using dreamup igot to the stage to select 'image to flash with', but that '.rar' i had saved on my PC was not coming up in the options......i tried opening that file, but was re-directed to some '.rar' website.... am i on the right track ?

you will need to have win rar installed on your pc

right click the rar file and extract to folder, the extracted image is the one you use to flash

First question is do you have winzip or winrar installed on your computer, if not do you have any other zip extracting software. If not then download winzip or winrar they are free to use for 30 days. Once they are installed you then go to the rar file and double click and then it will open the file and all you do is drag the file from the opened rar file onto your desktop, thats it bud you should then have the image file and thats the file you upload to your dreambox there should be no need tor rename a file unless stated in the readme text if there is one. hope that helps.

i have winzip......i have dragged img files kept in zip files onto my desktop in the past..

i'll try downloading the winrar onto my desktop, and try extracting the enclosed dw2 image, and see what happens...

ps - i re-flashed the box with a 're109.img' image [an earlier image] free from dream-multimedia.tv's website some days ago, but the box was still inactive..
