Hi all
I have been reading these boards and others for the past month, and have downloaded the relevant SW, and read up on a lot... BUT......

I am a complete idiot. I am having trouble setting up a DM600T (chorus mmds cork)

I tried using Mr.Dudes tutorial, but i dont know how to FTP etc.

I found a tutorial on using Flaswizard, but when i try and use "DM600.Noob Enigma 1.0.2" flash wizard tell me that it not compatible with 7020, BUT i am using a 600
Flaswizard says teh same thing when using "The Gemini Project 3.60 DM600PVR" image as well.

So i tried using Dream Up, (the dm600 version) , but it does nothing.. it doesn't recognise the box.

I am at a complete loss.

Does anyone have a retards guide to setting up a 600-T on Chorus MMDS in Cork

You have a fair few things going against you dude !

Why will dreamup not work ? Have you got a null modem cable and a serial port on the back of your laptop/pc ?

i'm using the null cable that came with the box

i have tried it on poth ports on my pc
and i have tried setting dream up to com1 and com2

dream up is not recognizing the box

i switch the box on, i get some german error message, and thats it.. nothing else happens.

I tried using flash wizard, but i have a feeling my network car isn't working / or i have he wrong type of cable. anyway, when using flash wizard, i keepgetting the message that teh image is not yet compatible with dm7020 (i'm using a 600t)

Use dreamup version 1.3.10 and a nullmodem cable and disable the network inside dreamup.

i did that .. same thing happens

if i set it to com1, with network off,

when i conect the dm600 i get the error message "ist keine helgul intergerwert"
i click OK
and dm600 box appears in dreamup window.

and nothing else happens
all the ip windows are blank
all button are greyed out , except for disconnect

Go to the comport settings in the device manager and set baud to 115200 and protocoll to none.

tried that .. still the same.. will try an older version of drem up tomorrow

I meant flow control not protocoll.
You can also try to disable "Use FIFO Buffers" in the advanced settings.
Reboot your pc after that.

i had flow contro at none, i'm gonna try a few reboots, a vodka and coke and ..more vodka :D

the error i get as soon as i switch on the box is
' " ist kein gültiger integerwert '
which according to bablefish means "is no valid integer value"

and in the log window is says:

14:56:03 box type: DM600PVR

i'll try and pick up another null modem during the week

OK.. back at this auld chestnut.

I got around to getting a new null modem cable at maplins today.. and guess what.

Same thing..

as soon as i switch on the box is
' " ist kein gültiger integerwert '

btw, I tried both com ports as i dont know which is which.

i'm begining to think that i have a dud box.. its too late to send it back now. I'll either put it on flea-bay or stick it into the cupboard to gather dust
:(

Someone on another forum got that error message aswell.
I think the fix was to configure the network adapter in windows.
( although It probably is configured if yoy have broadband)

obwan

its a stand alone machine.. no internet connection on it at all.
if you can find that thread can u pm the addy to me
plz

thnx

It looks like dreamup is not working for a dream600 without configured network inside dreamup independently if you want to use network or not for flashing.
If there is a network card installed set it to a fixed IP and select that IP inside dreamup and set the IP for the box one higher.

looks like i'll have to give up on this for a while.. the network connector has a red x on it in the connections window.

i dont know much about windows.. i usually use a differnt OS. i actually try and avoid Win if i can

If i cant do it by Null cable alone.. i cant do it :(

Simply set a fixed IP to the network card in the network folder.
After that enable network inside dreamup, choose the right ip's and deselect network again.
After that you should be able to flash your 600 box only via nullmodem.

@mgb / obwan - thanks for that advice - good to know for reference.

it still didnt work after trying all of that

so i used a different network cable, and followed the instructions on:

forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/572955

SUCCESS

all seems to be flashed / loaded correctly
