Neutrino is recommended as the best image for direct recording - agreed? (fewer errors because it turns off TV stream when recording!)

But ....... My problem is that the resultant TS files are not standard format, I think and can't be handled by the normal PC software for playback etc. For instance VLC (latestversion) doesn't like these files. Also can't analyse files for errors using Mpegrepair.

I know Senor Ding Dong says to use ProjectX to convert the TS file - tried this but still VLC objects to the new M2V file.

My questions are
- Any way to playback these Neutrino TS files on PC?
- Any way to analyse these files?

Edit: OOps posted this in the wrong Forum - meant to be the Dreambox forum - will repeat it over there if that's OK with mods?

If none of your software recognises the file, it could be that it's corrupted. Try changing the tuner driver and do another short recording.

You could well be right - I can't connect to TV at the moment to check.

But, is ProjectX the only way to deal with these files?

So they play back ok on the Dreambox? In that case, try and get ProjectX to convert to a new TS file. Neutrino TS files are a little off-spec, like you said. After that, MPEG2repair should be able to read them, and I would expect VLC to do so as well.

vlc will play these files but i have found that if you just do a short 5 minute recording or so as in you dont schedule it,it will play on the dreambox fine but vlc will have no sound or it will just play dodgy but when you schedule a recording and let it complete and then play it with vlc it will play fine.
