Hi

After thinking I'd done all the research under the sun I bought a DM800 (genuine). Its not arrived yet but just realised I need to use a 5m dvi/hdmi cable as its going to be in my AV cupboard.

So question is, is the supplied one wired specially to carry the audio, or will any 5m jobbie from ebay work? Also, any diference between the DVI / DVI-D types in terms of use on the dreambox ?

Cheers :)

Thanks.

But that is HDMI. Do you use that with a DM800, with a DVI/HDMI converter at one end ?

:proud:

HDMI-DVI does not carry 5.1 sound I dont think through HDMI in to amp. SO I use a optical connection for my dolby digital!

Yep - I know that so will use optical also for my 5.1.

What I wanted to know was, is the DVI/HDMI wire DM give you specially wired to carry audio, as DVI normally does not.

If it is, then there is no point me buying a 5m extension, as it would be no good for normal (non 5.1) viewing with tv with sound.

:Fish:

I use the supplied adapter, deffo works tho.
I usually have TV audio switched off and use a TOS link into my amp for 5.1....
