Hi Guys,

As we know bootloader's after version 69 which are incorporated in 2009 images do not work on DM800 clones.

I was informed a few weeks ago that the problem was being worked on by our Chinese friends, but all has gone quiet.

Does anyone have any news at all, or know if the problem can be solved?

It would be a shame if owners were restricted to older images as development continues.

Regards, Mike.

why buy a clone in the first place then?

There are a number of members on this site with cloned 800's, many of which were duped when purchasing. I am simply enquiring into the longevity of these boxes in relation to future images.

If you've got something constructive to say then please contribute, otherwise keep your comments to the playground where they belong.

I have been pointed towards a solution that uses an application called 'enforcer' that works in conjunction with dreamup which looks like it uploads a patched second stage onto the box.

It apparently works on the 600 & 800, and i am currently enquiring as to whether the latest 2009 images will run with this method.

I'm a little dubious about it, but it seems to have just been released coinciding with the bootloader #70 problems so looks promising.

I won't have a chance to give this a go until the weekend but will report back.

In the meantime, if you want the file & tut pm me, however i won't be responsible for any problems the software may cause.

Regards.

that application will just let you flash a new bootloader (ie downgrade from 70 to 69).
all new images are built usinng the latest cvs builds which contain drivers that do not work on clones, so it doesn't matter if you change the bootloader.

I think most members know now with the price of dream stuff and the many posts on not only this forum but the rest who sells the clones if they have gone down this road then they are at fault and will not be able to get the full use out of there receiver after all a clone can cost as much as 325.58 then postage on top of that and the real one cost 399 dont look so good if you ask me

@ 2 tone: I think you are spot on, but seeing as a fair few of these have been sold already, then there will definitely be a market for a fix, so let's see what happens.

Nice tune by the way. This was my favourite satin storm btw.

Looking at the comments above, i think theres a site that has images on , with bootloader 69 in them and appears up to date with images like nabilo v8,

possibly more clones??

dreambox-secondstage Bootloader for cloned DM800HD

Ive heard China have now got there act together and corrected this problem on new clones with a modified sim/security card.

Does anybody know where to obtain one of these sim/security cards from please?

Big Boris, could you PM me the site please.

For info, i have been in touch with one of the major clone distributors this morning.

Apparently new sims are currently being produced and should be available within a couple of weeks - marketed through their website.

If and when this happens, i will report back.

Hi Guys

I,m looking for a good HD Reciever, which i will purchase sometime in june\
July. After looking round so far, i think its gonna be a original dream 800,
or i may go the whole hog and get a dream 8000. If i,m wanting something
decent, i don,t want to by a clone and ending up having bother with it.
When i bought my dream 7020, i made sure it was original, by buying from
a reputable dealer who i,d used before. I have nothing against clones, as
i do have one, which is a eagle and loaded with the eagle image and works
great, but thats what it is a clone and i know i can,t use gemini images with
it. I guess what i,m trying to say is, if you want a good reciever that will
use images such as gemini and you don,t want problems with it, then buy from a reputable dealer and get an original, but don,t expect to buy one
brand new cheaply. As this is when you end up getting a clone and the
problems arise. On the other hand if you knowingly buy a clone, you know
what you have bought and you are happy with it,fine. Just don,t expect
it to do or be as good as a original.

There are new sims for these which allow bootloader 70 with nabilo 9 tested and working on them so i think for those that already have clones it is just a case of getting hold of a new sim.

In the forum of the place i bought my 600 they say that the sims are on the way to allow bootloader 72.

do they say how much m8? do the clones even have a sim card reader in them? i know the clone 7020s do as i have 2 of those myself and wondered what the readers were for, on my original 800 the reader is glued closed, with the glue covering the card as well

Well as far as im aware any boxes he sells after march come with the new sims as standard and he plans to have the new sims which allow bootloader 72 soon.

Wether or not he sells them seperate i dont know but they arnt on his site.

any news on where to get the replacement sims lads, quite a few 600's goin around with this problem too, or is it possible to flash a new bootloader to the sim or is that in the image ?
Thanks

I spoke to the guy about the sims again during the week.
Same old story, 7-10 days, they're on the way from China.
He'll be advertising them on his website when they arrive.

Just been having a quick read-up on sim cloning. This now seems to be possible with easily obtainable software / hardware.
Might this be a way round the problem for us, should he not some through with the goods?
I'd be interested if anyone has a view, or knows much about this.

released now and should be getting one to fix my box that is stuck on bootloader 72

would be interesting to see the difference,

plenty of tests coming soon

the problem is if it hasn't been fully cloned then we are in trouble,

I hope the mac stored on the sim is different for clone sims otherwise dm can blow them anytime

if anyone else gets one please post your findings

On another note I have got barry allen to install on a clone thus bypassing the bootloader check but it's no use, can install a new image to the usb, but then when it boots, the new images stop loading half way.

an alternate way is to erase the sim check on the bootloaders which is no easy task, with no source code it has to be random hex editing.

Any chance of alink to the new sims please eithr by PM or just post it for all to see
