I have a dm800se clone that started freezing alot, to the point that i could watch 5 minutes of a 30 minute program.
When i ping the dreambox i get a good steady ping with no dropoff or loss, even when picture is froozen.
If i try the Network Test in the System / Network menu while the picture is froozen it fails the IP Address test, but passes when i run the test when the picture is not froozen.
Seeing as i can ping the dreambox when its freezing i feel this eliminates the physical hardware connected to the dreambox.

Is there a way to check the network driver? Or how do i update it?

IM running the dbuk image.

Any help is greatly apreciated.

is box running hot

possibly psu as they are bit iffy

corrupted image ?

would try re flash & psu first

Have the fan on fast now, but it didnt seem to run hot.
I have just flashed the new OpenPLi 3.0 image, but still freezes.
As for the PSU i tried a 4 Amp and it makes no difference.

Is it freezing all the time or only when watching premium channels?

Premium only. Im convinced its a network issue on the box.

If its a share you get from elsewhere ;) then thats probably were the problem lies m8,

although it could be a network problem your end,but doubtful, can you try a different box with the same share?

I have tried test lines off others and get the exact same problem. I dont think its any network cabling or equipment going to the box. It seems to be the box. Seeing as it has problems with the ip address when testing when it freezes.

if premium only certainly sounds like server issue

probably the source mate

do you not have a friend you can try with

Is your box hardwired or wireless or homeplugs?

Have you anything uploading or downloading or heavy use on your network ?

The above can slow the ecm to you box but I feel its who your connected to that's the problem.

So you can ping the local LAN IP address of your Dreambox and theres no dropouts or latency from a continous ping ? Is this even when yout picture is frozen ? I.E: Can you still ping the dreambox on it's Local LAN IP address when the picture is frozen or not ?
It's a bit strange that your network test is failing on IP address when you run a network test from the box, but it works OK when the picture is not frozen. You should check things like DHCP lease renewal times on your wireless router, or check logs to see if your box is dropping it's IP address and requesting a lease renewal.
If you have a static IP address check and make sure it's not overlapping with your DHCP scope...i.e: it's not being allocated to other devices on your LAN (ideally if you use a static IP address this address should be outside your DHCP scope).
you might also want to keep a continous ping running simulraneously to your line provider IP address as well as your local dreambox IP then check the pings when you have frozen picture to see which one is dropping. It does sound more like a overutilized server/share line provider issue.

I just tried changing the DHCP server to designate to a narrower range outside my static range. This seemed to have no affect, but then i turned on DHCP on the box and so far no freezing.
Thanks for the suggestion. Fingers crossed it'll stay fixed.

Thanks everyone for your help.
