Thanks to a lot of help here I am now pretty well set up with the box and my NewCamd. however I am not picking up all channels. When I do a service scan I get 470 channels, however I believe that I should be getting closer to 1000 channels found.

My settings for the service scan are:

Config Mode - Simple
Mode - Single
Satellite - Astra 1N2A2B2D/Eutelsat 28A (28.2E)
Send DiSEqC - Yes
Tone Amplitude - 800mV

Is there anything obvious I am doing wrong to miss some channels. When the box is scanning, I do not notice any of the channels I am missing come up so I assume my issue isnt with my channel listing but my service scan.

Any advise will be well appreciated as always.
Thanks
Dan

When it is scanning, if doesnt seem to pick any more channels after the frequency after 11797 which seems to be most of the sports, movies and discovery type channels.

Id first look at sending in a upto date satellite.xml orcheat and use a channel list or Rats autobouqets you would get all the channels that.

Would that make a difference on the scan for channels? I understand if my channel listing out out of date that they wouldn't show but would they still not be found on the service scan?
Other than that do my tuner settings look as they should?
Thanks

You may have a setup issue but you need to start by adding a current satellite.xml this will effect scanning as it will have more or corrected details to complete the scan with.

I have just downloaded a new file (for Astra 2A/2C/2E/2F/Eutelsat 28A (28.2E)) from satellites-xml.eu rescanned and again only found 470 channels.

Thanks for the info Coach, I have an DM800 HD PVR. Clone. I think my next step will be to take the box to someones house with a full Sky package, and run a scan there. If it turns out to find the same channels then a new tuner maybe the next step after that. at the minute mine doesnt find the majority of Sports channels, News Channels, Movie Channels and discovery type channels. Was this the same for you? Out of interest which tuner did you get and where from?

I have just opened my box and the top of the tuner has Eardatek on it.??

I bought mine from fleabay, it was about £28, but you can get them from alibaba china for about £18 but you will have to wait and its a lot of mucking about if it dont work. I got a Alps REV M BSBE2-801A Replacement Tuner for DM800HD - If you know someone you can swap the tuner with its then easy to rule out, (i did it with another box i had) but no-one likes you messing about with their box if its working. To be honest I cant recall the channels that were missing so i would only be guessing, but what i did notice that sometimes if i turned over to different channels quickly it occassionally 'failed to tune', but this was intermittant.

Just one other thing i did try to do manual scans of individual transponders and was gettin 0 channels on the channels that were not being picked up in the service scan. I knew my dish was ok as i had other boxes connected to it.

It could be an lnb/dish issue. Best to test at another place as you mentioned before spending money.

My tuner appears to be different to the ones I can find on the internet. It seemed to be slotted in using somewhere in the region of 80 pins rather than a PCB type slot!! Could this be an old version??

Here is a picture of the top of the tuner and the side, the pins shown on the side appear to be how the tuner comes out. It has 64 pins.

Correct, those gold pins on the second picture appear to just push down into the board!!
After quite a bit of looking up on the net I can only find one picture of another one.

Down into the mobo of the board ?

Is usually like a upright pci slot that comes up for the mobo ¬ and the tuner pushes into that mobo slot sidewards. if that is how it attaches to your mobo it looks like you have a revm tuner which is usually a good thing.

No it definatly looks like the pins plug straight into the motherboard. With no PCI slot!!

Will do but will have to be tonight after work.
Cheers
Dan
