have just got my rev m tuner & installed it. Now when i switch on the front display says "dream multimedia ->error!"

(dream is brightish, multimedia ->error! is only just visible)

also the red light on the front of the box is flashing red

both ethernet lights are on constant ie both the yellow & green.

i have removed the internal fan completely as am using usb fan cooler.

any ideas? have i done something wrong.

was working fine with the 401a tuner (apart from the glitching)
did proper shutdown.
left 5 mins
took unit apart
replaced tuner
put back together
power up & problem.......

what part number is on the Rev M tuner sticker ? Which revision mainboard do you have ? Which image , SSL bootloader and SIM you using ?

The part number on the Rev M Tuner that works with Rev J and L boards is DVB-S2 BSBE2-801A .

Theres also an older Rev M that doenst work on all mainboards. Check youur tuner part number. Also Tuner could be faulty.

PANIC OVER!!!! thank god......

i took the lid off again to check connections etc (had done this allready once) & decided to take the sim out and put it back in again. connected everything up again nd yippeeeeee it is now working. Possibly the sim had come loose when i was installing the tuner?

One thing to note now is that the front display on the 800 is very dimm? it was nice nd bright before the upgrade?

just done a quick check on espnhd nd have steady snr of 90 nd agc of 96.

should i risk a rescan of the tuner or quit while im ahead...

cheers

glad it works mate, and theres no need to rescan channels if all your channels are working, means the tuners working the way it should, aslong as you have an upto date channel list on you dont need to scan channels!

had a quick scan through nd all the channels seem to be there....

any ideas regarding the front panel screen now being dim? before i could see what channel etc was on ie itv hd, now i carnt read it from about 2m away. its not a real problem just wondering if any one has similar.......

cheers

Take the lid off the box and check to make sure you didnt disturb the ribbon cable to the OLED display while fitting the tuner make sure it's firmly conencted.

is there not a setting in the menu where you can ajust the brightness, invert ect like there is on a dbox? if there is then you could try ajusting it. regards mdt

Just took the box apart again & took the front panel off & checked the ribon cable. removed it from the motherboard & the lcd panel. gave it a good old blow & reconnected it up. Now i have no display at all on the front panel. power switch & led both working. tried wiggling the ribbon cable whilst the box is on & i did get it to flash up something for a second or so. think it must be faulty ribbon cable or even the lcd itself? not having much luck with this box.....lol

Think im going to post in the clasifieds & see if anybody has a lcd/front panel/ribbon cable i could borrow to test.

I'm having similar problems with mine. Just over a week ago, my DM800 stopped working and after testing with my DM500, I came to the conclusion that in the high winds, my Fortec Star H-H motor died and basically damaged both my 800 and 500 as they both stopped being able to find any channels and the 800 couldn't find the tuner. I tried taking the motor out of the loop and the LNB works fine with an old Echostar Analogue/digi receiver.

After inspecting the ALPS L3 tuner in my DM800, it appears that the capacitor on the bottom has overheated and it looks like some liquid has leaked onto the tuner circuit board.

So I've bought a replacement Rev-M tuner (which would fix the glitching problem). I installed it tonight and still my DM800 says Tuner A is empty.

Also, when booting up, the red power LED flashes and the OLED keeps dimming as though some power is being drawn from it when it's processing. When the boot-up has finished, the OLED remains dim. It only seems to have started doing this since the motor died.

Could it be that the box itself is dead? I've also seen the message "ERROR" once when booting but it went away when I rebooted.

Any ideas?

iv had the error message on a box i had to sort for a friend, and it turned out to be the sim card holder had come away from the solder, worth a look mate just to check!

Update!
I re-read the instructions that came with the M tuner and it states that it works with Bootloader 75 and 76. When I checked, I was using BL70, so I flashed it with 76C and voila - my tuner appeared! :)

However, I still can't get it to register a signal from the dish, which definitely works on the old Echostar. :(

More playing tomorrow night then....

Hi! I tried removing and replacing the sim which turned into a disaster as the cheap flimsy plastic holder broke when I tried to re-seat it. It's now held in (permanent) place with superglue - and I haven't had any more errors.
