just set my dm500s running commando to mount and record to my pc, so before i forget anything thought i would post here an maybe help someone else.

ON PC

Make Folder on C: drive root of PC (im using XP), mines is called "dreambox", on my dm500 that will be my DIRECTORY/SHARE
You need to share it, right click on folder, select Properties > Sharing tick the 2 box,s "share this folder on the network" & "allow network users to change my files
Do this with any other folder you create within, you will see a hand created bellow folder to let you know its shared.
I rebooted my pc's (not sure if its a must but did it anyways).

NAS DRIVE

Create a share on Nas Drive mines is also called "dreambox".
Set Username & Password (this is the Username & Password which goes on dm500

ON DREAMBOX

SERVER IP - input the ip of your PC or NAS here
DIRECTORY/SHARE - the shared folder on the PC or NAS (has to be identical name)
USERNAME - same as PC or NAS share
PASSWORD - same as PC or NAS share
MAC ADDRESS - of PC or NAS (can be found using cmd > ipconfig/all on pc or nas in config menu)

The other settings, setup like iv done below, but in the MOUNT OPTIONS you need to change ro,soft, udp
to rw,soft, udp changing the "o" to "w" if left you wont be able to write to the share.
MOUNT ON STARTUP iv left as no as i manually start mount myself.

If any problems mounting, reboot the box or check firewall settings as i had the box ticked "dont allow exceptions" in windows firewall, had to untick and it mounted on next attempt.

These are the basic settings iv used.

I thought you needed sw installed to be able to record am i wrong?

no software is required in commando image for direct file .ts recording/playback using a network mounted folder on winXP as first post states.

just setup network mount like first post states and shown in example below, then select direct file recording to write to the network mounted folder on winXP.

Forget to mention the recording settings, mine was "direct file" as default im sure, but then again i tried changing a few things while experimenting with setting up mount.
I'v setup another 2 laptops since using the info i posted an got them mounted within a few minutes, looks more complicated than it is

@LraiZer on C14.2 when i mounted my nas it showed me the disc space left on my drive.
using C14.3 it says SERVER DOWN even when mounted to my 2 laptops but i can still record an playback, is it something iv changed or need to change

Thanks for the tut m8. Has anyone got any links to a good but not too expensive Nas Drive please?

Thanks
