500s EPG

whats the best image to use to get a decent epg for sly, im using pli jade latest build but the epg is practically non existent, i also need to be able to use cccam with whatever image is best.

i cant install the rytek epg as /var does not have enough memory to install it, i havnt got any network drives or anything to extend memory so just looking for the best image with a decent enough epg, all suggestions or solutions welcome! roud:

I run the rytec epg with 3 days full epg stored in the tmp folder using OpenPli image,
if you cannot install rytec due to not enough room in var then something is wrong m8,

I would suggest a reflash,but make sure to ftp in and extract any important files first

the only things i have installed though is cccam softcom and cccam config, nothing else, 61% used var, its a fresh install only 4 days ago, flashed another box and added the 2 cccam files and it was 61% aswell, the files just too big for the /var folder

should i be putting it in tmp then, then installing it, im uncertain now, lol!

You should be installing directly through the blue button menu m8,
you need the SQLite epg plugin and the rytec xml plugin.

arrrrrr well its done it that way, but how do i activate it, coz nothings seemed to have changed, cheers though i was downloading from the site and trying to ftp it, lol!

Just checked my var and I have 47% free and thats with rytec installed as well as the other bits and a full motorised channel list,

if you telnet in to your box and issue a df command what result do you get back for var usage?

Ok heres a quick how:


Best bet is to first of all go to the blue button panel and download the SQLite plugin and the rytec xml plugin (UK),

Now go to the epg settings in main menu/expert setup and change the options to SQLite and storage directory to/tmp (ignore the "this directory is not suitable etc" you can store 3 days worth in /tmp,

Then press the yellow button and you should have two new plugins called "Dreambox EPG Config" and "Update epg preferences"

Highlight the Dreambox one and in there in the drop down list you will find Radiotimes xml,select that then chose 3 days then press blue to go in and map your channels,press done when finished in there and it will kick back one step so know chose yellow to retreive your channels.

I think thats more or less the steps as I cant check because its the main box in the lounge lol so cant mess with it,

Just remember to save any changes as you go through the menus/settings and bear in mind that the radiotimes.xml source is not always up and running so sometimes you will get nothing and also if you reboot your box then you will lose the epg as the /tmp directory is erased at boot up

iv downloaded them both mate now via what you said, but when i goto change epg im setting it to sq lite database, then where does the enigma epg location get set too, tried the default but after i saved it went back to original enigma epg!

the default folder for sqlite epg location is /media/hdd, but i havnt got a hdd so do i need to change this to where the files been put, and if so do you know where it goes!

cheers fella done most of that, but i dont quite know how to map the channels, what do i need to do!

Ok when you are in the dreambox epg config plugin just press the blue button,
this will then bring up a list of all channels in the radiotimes source on the left and a list of your channels on the right,

Highlight a channel on the left then press ok and the focus will change to your list,then just scroll down and find the matching channel in your list and press ok,

that channel will now disappear from the left hand list and the next channel will be highlighted then just repeat as above,

when you have them all mapped press green for done then when it kicks you back one hit yellow to retrieve your epg,

now this will only work if the Radiotimes source is online,and its been a bit flaky lately,actually just checked and its down at the moment

right well iv got it there with all that info but if its down i'll leave it till 2moro map the channels and try it then, thanks though mate would'nt of had a clue about all that!

nee botha mate, much appreciated it is, iv give ya some rep for that 1, i just thought the epg's would of been the same as the cable 1's, how wrong was i, lol. is it the same with all the images then, thought they would have been built in, seems an awful lot of work for something thats not permenant, well i suppose it is aslong as ya dont reboot the box haha!

Lol unfortunately the satellite epg is different to cable and needs a plugin for any sort of decent epg,

as for it not being permanent,you can set it to auto update the epg at a time to suit yourself,
of course this is not so great when radiotimes source is playing up,
but what you can do is when you get a full 3 days just back it up to your pc and then if it doesnt work the next day just ftp it back over and still have 2 days ,and it rarely goes down for 3 days

I have been going round the bend wondering why my EPG wouldnt work anymore while it was working fine the other day and nothing had changed, I have re-loaded the image again about 4 times lol

Actually was thinking about this yesterday, which file are the mappings saved in ??

Could this be included with the bouquets that are posted on here so that all the channels are mapped already ??

I dont mind posting mine tonight when I map them all back up again and people will just have to change the regional channels accordingly instead of going through everyone

There stored in /var/tuxbox/config/dbepg and the file is called rt_uk_channels.dat

Cheers mate i'll post that later with the B16MCC Bouquets that i'm using, should be able to just FTP them over to the right places on the box and then just retreive with the yellow button if i'm right ??

i'll test it later for you mate if you get the files and tell me where to put them, if it works it saves me having to map them all ;0)

just been trying to map a few myself to test, im going into plugins (yellow) then dreambox epg config, change the package to radiotimes, mapped a few channels, retrieving them ok, save it, but when i go back into epg config, its restored the package back to CD/TVV.

AM I DOING SOMETHING WRONG HERE?
