ok so i'm selling a cable box on flea bay and i get a message from some bloke that says " can i help him put an image on " as he can't get any channels...

so i'm like....mmmm, strange....

Draw a line in the sand you're comfortable with. I would personally not go further than IMs. No mobile help.

hey bro......just don't mind helping any one....but he says like he manged to buy a dbox from his mobile yet he's just asked me how to open a word doc...??? and that on his ebay account he's only bought one thing...and that was 6 months ago...

and then he says when he's scanned that he gets german channels ? i mean come on....

(p.s the dreambox is clas....but can't get recording working....will post a thread about it soon...)

There's no point in taking any chances, or in hand-feeding someone who's too lazy or thick to help himself. I would point him in the right direction, and possibly help answer any genuine questions he may have along the way, assuming he shows a willingness to help himself, but not via phone, and just to be 100% safe, it would probably be a good idea to make it clear that any information you provide is for educational purposes only, and that he will be in breach of his contract and possibly the law if he uses this information to gain free access to cable services or channels.

I wouldn't give out a mobile no. mate he could be anyone. The seller he mentioned is genuine though i've bought from him in the past with a german sportster image installed although he advertises set up for uk.

Yup, sounds sus to me. I'd steer well clear..

Stay away man........... If he's found out enough about DBox's to go and buy one, you'd usually assume a friend has one already or he's done some research first.

Some people just sound too sus to bother with.
