How old is it?

I didnt think rover made the 75 anymore! Its not something I'd buy due to the reliability stories if im honest, but more that that i'd say its overpriced at 3995!

its 06 plate '£3550 ovno and the reliability is good for the 2.0 BMW diesel engine

Reliability of the BMW unit is very good according to all sources, but I still think its at least £500-£800 overpriced

They range in price over here from about €2500 to €4000,there is even an 06 for €1500 in Derry :)

As @wiz569 says, the engine may well be reliable, but you still have the rest of the shed to consider. I think you'd expect some nasty surprises after your Honda which, apart from regular servicing, has probably never seen an oily rag.
I would have loved to 'Fly the Flag' for the UK over here, but as I need something reliable for business, I plumped for a Hyundai. That was 8 years ago & I haven't regretted it (hope that isn't a curse!!). I really liked the look of the later Discovery but like @Joe1989 says reliability is a major issue. I prefer my vehicle to be on the road earning instead of on the ramp costing.

thanks for your replies and as nobody has answered who has or does own one I will take every caution but I have not read of any reliability problems with late versions which is what I am going to look at . As late as 2011 it one most comfortable saloon and at 68 I am looking for affordable comfort my 99 hondas has had suspension and exhaust replacements and on a recent trip to crosby up the M6 we were shouting at each other to be heard over the noise from the road

You'd be better off buying the a 06-08 accord for that money imho.

I owned a Honda accord younger than that and didn't like the ride or the auto box very sluggish I toured Scotland in it so did enough miles a very choppy ride

different strokes for different folks m8,

there's nothing wrong with the rover 75 especially with the BMW engine, dont think that block suffered from the head gasket issues, but just don't get fleeced as they should be a bit cheaper compared to others in the same range,

hell I drive a Renault megane, try getting a good review of them lol

The rover 75d is probably the best rover car ever made. The bmw engine is bullet proof and the only problems you will have are the brake pipes tend to rust. If you replace them with copper pipes you will have a great car.
Rover cars got a bad name for a while and rightly so ,the 400 / 800 / etc were a nightmare head gaskets lasted 30000 miles and they were nothing but trouble.
My brother has had a 75 for 4 years now, and apart from changing the brake pipes has had no problems at all.
It's like sitting in an armchair and driving.

I used to work at a main rover agents when the rover 2000,3500,and 3.5 were the new rovers and i think the 75d is better than them. A bit over priced at that though mate.

Thank you all very much for your input. I have owned Hondas for the past 20 years but never been a comfortable ride except the accord aerodeck which was the first Honda I owned when I changed from a Austin Montego.

I will definitely not be paying the asking price done lots of research found the online owners club some good info of what to look for and as this one is a one owner with a full service history until last November I am looking forward to a test drive this morning

Just got back from test drive not buying it several faults and not much give on the price ,the 4 good tyres turn out to be three and a worn different speed rating the drivers leather seat was torn lots of small dents and scratches all over the body , the boot was wet from the car wash and the self dash test showed it to be faulty and to be honest at 70mph on the M5 it was not much quieter than my S reg crv

Sorry to hear it was a disappointment for you m8, nothing worse than having your hopes built up. But like I said earlier, there's more to a good car than just a god engine. Hell, they put Mercedes engines in Ssang-Yongs- need I say more?
I wish you the best of luck in your search, plenty to choose from out there.
