I have always thought myself to be a good driver, high mileage 45,000+ per year for the last 25 years part of job, i have recently up graded my satnav (well unlocked it and loaded new software and 2010 Q3 maps).

This new lease of life software has many functions one of which it shrills at you when ever you go over the speed limit on any road not just were there is a camera.

Now i sort of drive to the conditions and am mindful in built up areas of my speed however with this sat nav i have realised I and many others are breaking the speed limits many times over every day.

i am not talking of 60 in a 30 or anything like that, more the 36 in a 30 when i have always thought that stretch was 40 and a dual carriageway that goes from 60 down to 40 for 200 yrds and i had never noticed the sign i did today its sort of 1/2 hidden by a bus stop.

some good tech :) well should save me any points on licence.

I would say that I drive to the conditions but there are some pretty stupid limits around here. Roads that are fine for 40 are marked as 30. Others which really should be 40 or even 30 are 60. There is one road goes from 40 to 30 for no reason except it cross a council boundary. One council has it at 40, the other 30.

The speed limit in the UK is outdated and does not consider for the current road conditions, what it takes to pass a test, technology etc...think it needs review. i tend to drive with what the road conditions allow. Even broke speed limit with police around and they dont do anything as long as you arent being stupid. like 80-90 on a 70. It should be more about safe driving rather than concentrate on speed.

this is my dislike of cameras. They do not take into account the road conditions, weather, etc
