Mondeo 2.0 duratec, Mk3 fault code

Hi all,

Got a fault code reader from ebay... set up and plugged in. I got :

P0400 egr Recirculation flow malfunction

Now on looking this up for my car (Mondeo mk3, 2002 2.0 petrol) it seems that the egr valve becomes sticky and sticks open or shut... and the remedy is to take off and clean it with wd40 and brush.

Now, I also have a rattle on the back box... could this also cause this problem ?


I have noticed that it has become pretty juicy lately, drinks more and more it seems !!

Also clean out where the egr is mounted into, re set the code and give it a run.

I doubt th back box is related to the issue.

Think I will have it off tomorrow and give it a clean... it just bolts to the side of the head by the looks of it... will need a gasket I expect though... or some paste lol

if its a metal gasket it will more than likely go again.

From looking on the net it seems to be paper/material one.. will change it anyway or as I say use paste
