I have a 1999 Golf with electric everything but just standard central locking. I have the basic key with the light in it (light doesnt work) Is there anyway i can find out or anyone who knows if i can install an original remote key the flip out ones for my car so i have remote central locking? Ive been trying to find information for this everywhere!!

just fit a central locking module (not a vw 1) and a motor to the car
will be like an alarm fob but will cost about £50 and 1/2 work mate

:err: .. I will be honest m8 and tell that I don't know what all those things are!

Get yourself one of these. I installed one last year on my old Polo.
Took about an hour, but that's only because the wiring was backwards on my car.
If you follow the instructions, it should be about 30min.
All you then have to do, is take the two blank keys to your local keycutters (about £10), and then swap the immobiliser chip from your current key.
The keys look identical to the original VW ones.
