I am looking at buying an LG passive 3d TV. Its going in a conservatory, so when watching, I will be around 6' - 8' away from the screen, so my first question is, do I go for 32" or 42"?
My second question is, can I stream 3d content from my PC wirelessly and watch on the TV in 3d?
Thanks

just check and make sure the grathic card in your pc is capable of playing 3d as ive just fount out mine doesn't so im looking at getting a new g/c with hdmi and sound so it can go throw my av amp
and I would go for 42inch but arter looking at them I went for a Samsung active as I think its a better 3d pickture

the closest you should be to the screen, so you dont see and digital artifacts, is 2.5x the screen size away from it

for a 32", 32x2.5 = 80" = ~ 6 and a half feet
for a 42", 42x2.5 = 105" = ~ 8 and three quarter feet

these are really the closest you should be, so, ideally, a 32" would give you what you see as a better picture at the distance you will be sitting

ive installed 50" screens for people who sit 6' away, and they all say, buying a TV so big was a massive mistake

yip as above follow it will give you a guide

Well I have opted for the 42" which will be delivered this morning. I thought if I go for the bigger one first and if there's a problem with viewing distances, at least I can send it back and get the smaller 32". I had been to Currys to look at both models, but they don't have the 32" in stock or a demo set, but the 42" was there and I stood 6' away and it looked ok.
I have put a 3d film on my PC to stream to TV, so hopefully the g/c on PC will play it, the PC does play it on its own screen as 2 images side by side, so fingers crossed.

my pc plays it side by side aswell but when I change the tv to 3d its only like half merged

When I go into graphics properties on PC, there is an option for 3d preference and a few other settings, so fingers crossed still. If it doesn't work, I think I will buy an android box with built in 3d capabilities and attach this to the TV.
I wont find out until Monday now, as delivery company rang me to say they've been in a road traffic accident, there ok though, so TV can wait.

You can always try the Wiki for the viewing distances: Optimum HDTV viewing distance - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Personally i trust the THX measurement and have always been guided by this, My 60" 3D is approximately 6' away and the 3D is great.

For 3D the bigger the better or you will be disappointed
Thanks for that. Well according to all the manufacturers figures on the wiki link, it would appear that my 42" should be fine ( I'm hopeful ) with the viewing distance I have. I will let you know on Monday.
Just to let everyone know, the PC I will be trying to stream 3d content from is an Acer Aspire Z5771 all in one. i5 processor with intel built in graphics and 6gb ram.

Well I installed my TV yesterday and I have to agree with Digi247, bigger is better, I am so glad I didn't go for the 32". Four of us sat round the TV, all about 6' away and the picture is brilliant, in fact better than when viewed in the shops. I think LG have done a great job with these new passive 3d TV's and the connectivity is superior to others of the same price. Will be sitting down with the kids later to watch Madagascar 3d. Another thing about having passive 3d TV, is you don't really need to worry about the kids or animals or even us adults (when we've had a few beers), damaging the glasses, as there as cheap as 99p.
Also to add to this, my PC streams the 3d videos with no problem at all, just send it to the TV and then press 3d button on remote, and these LG's give you 5 options of viewing, so flick to the one that shows it correctly.
Anyone interested in buying the same as I have LG model. 42LA620V, Pixmania.co.uk (which is basically Currys, Dixons & PC Worlds online store) are doing an offer on this model £449 incl delivery.

Sorry the TV on Pixmania.co.uk is model no. 42LA620S, slightly different to the one I bought. The 620S only has DVB-T, whereas the 620V has DVB-T2, so I think that means the 620S doesn't have freeview HD.

if you have Picture Wizard in the LG settings it very good for setting the right contrast/ ect
