ok lads got the wheelchair out today and went to currys to have a look at 3d tvs now I don't no if its my eyes or what but I had problems with active being say blurry or shadowy now it was a lot beter for things looking like they were coming at your but I just couldn't take to it
now passave looked good for seeing layers but they were going back from the front of the tv any one got any idears ive got up to about £600 and would like to get one by next Friday

Most passive panels at the budget you have are so similar it wont make much of a difference 3D wise. I quite like the sharp for build quality and reliability over the samsungs and lgs at that price bracket. Focus your attention away from 3D and more to the smart features available as well as processing methods.

I've had a 60 inch 3D tv for about 18 months and haven't watched anything in 3D for 9 months or more.
Once the initial fad wears off you don't tend to bother too much with it.

ok all thanks for the input im going to get one of the Samsung active 40 or 46 inch just got to make my mind up the 3d will get used quite a bit with watching a lot of films

3D crap for football

awesome on nature programes

some movies can be good

my view on it

I agree sky sport 3D is crap nature and films ok not worth the money go for a smart tv instead

Yep if a choice between I would go for smart. I have a 51 3d smart Samsung the 3d is good but I use the smart features more ;)

Most smart TV's these days have 3D as standard. Can't get away from it I'm afraid. Smart TV's are good for their internet connection, so BBC iPlayer, etc, is easy to play on your TV.

The only thing about TV's these days is that the sound is way too 'tinny'. I ended up buying a Samsung SoundBar for around £290. Great bass sound, plus the soundbar and the subwoofer connect wirelessly. Connecting the TV and soundbar through HDMI means clear sound, plus your TV remote works the soundbar volume as well. You can also connect other devices wirelessly to the soundbar, although not tried this yet :)

Having been an early adopter of 3D technology with the Samsung Plasma 63" around 4 years ago and still have a samsung now again Plasma due to the Footy hate LED/LCD crap for sport. As above i think you will find it hard to get a decent Mid-High price TV that is just either 3D on its own or Smart TV on its own.

As for the OLED i saw a prototype at one of the A/V shows some 8 years ago on a small sony 19" screen very impressive and now the technology has come down in price this is the next step but wait with the impending 4K HD transmissions from satellite about to start early next 1st Quater. If i was in the Market for a new TV then it would have to be OLED,4K,Smart & 3D although i dont fancy the price tag when they do appear.

Not much of that wouldn´t fancy a pr#ck in face anyway
