Hi

Just reset an iphone 4 i had with the previous owners details, went through all the set up again and it will not let me create a new account !!!!!!

So the phone is basically useless as i have no apple id, cannot download ANYTHING from appstore etc !!!!!

Anyone help ??

Thanks

How is it not letting you do this?

Did you goto Settings > General > Reset >Erase All Content and Settings
The owners details would have to be put in here to prevent activation lock.
Then go through setup again... language, country, and a Wi-Fi network. At this point, you will be asked to enter your Apple ID and password.

HTH

Go to apple site on net and create an account there then use details to sign in on IPhone.

Is there, could i not just change account in icloud ??

Seems madness not to allow more accounts !!!

new one on me - has the previous owner removed it from their iCloud account? my mother in law has my iphone4, before that it was mine, the wifes, my mate I bought it from - that's 4?!?!

what about this : iTunes Store: Associating a device or computer to your Apple ID

I'd make sure it's still not authorised there on someone else account. People sell them on without releasing them properly. Same with iCloud 'Find my iPhone'

this is due to the new security measures in ios7 lads, if there has been an icloud account set up on the device, then once you restore you have to put there details into that device

He says he's restored it and it's not the iCloud activation.

Have you got previous owners details? Can you log in with those? If so, log in the delete that account by going to Settings>iCloud>Delete account (at bottom) click delete and delete from iPhone. I would then restore iPhone and set up as new device and start from there.
