iPhone Can I update from 2.2 ?

I've got my hands on one of the 1st gen 8gb Iphones , it has been unlocked using winpwn (Pineapple logo on startup) and is running 2.2 , modem firmware is 04.05.04_G

Just wondered if I could update this to the latest software version in Itunes as a lot of the apps need the latest version to work or will that cause me some probs ?

you cant update to latest... you will have to update using custom firmware.. when i get back from work ill help you
