Nine-month-old twin girls are in hospital after reports they were attacked by a fox at their home in east London.

Police said officers and paramedics were called to a house at around 2200 BST on Saturday.
The little girls are being treated at the Royal London Hospital and are described as being in a "serious but stable condition".
Both are understood to have arm wounds and one has facial injuries.
The fox was believed to have been in an upstairs room as the babies slept.
A police spokesman said: "The incident is not being treated as suspicious.
"We were called to reports of a fox attack. Officers and the ambulance found two girls with injuries."

In 2002, mother Sue Eastwood reported that her baby boy, Louis, was left injured after a fox crept into their house in Kent while she slept.
The fourteen-week-old suffered bite marks on his head after the animal darted into the sitting room of the house in Dartford

I can see this happening more and more. The number of foxes I see on the streets now and not just at night either seems to have increased.

Im glad we put a stop to that foxhunting,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, vermin thats all they are.

Your sarcasm is duly noted.

Stop foxhunting yes, stop culling them in a humane fashion - no.

WTF were the parents doing that any creature could get near their precious children?

I wonder what will be on the placards of those good for nothing stinking of piss hippies 'SAVE FOXES, CULL BABIES'

Sad shocking story that is almost unbelievable. It has to be said though there are more and more foxes in urban areas because we destroy their habbitat to build houses on it.

Geez, you can't suddenly turn this into foxaphobia. You're applying human characteristics to a wild animal - I'm pretty sure the fox didn't do it becasue it's sick in the head, it just seen the children as prey; it's nature and nature can seem cruel, humans are part of nature too but most forget that and think they are somehow above it.

I'm sure some of the people here saying kill all foxes own dogs and dogs have got a far worse rep than foxes, so should we kill all dogs as well? What about humans, much worse rep than foxes and dogs put together, so lets kill all humans while we're at it!?!?!

this is going to be happening a lot over the years to come..foxes are diseased vermin that should be a mass cull on them before some innocent wee child is killed ..

Last year there were over 5,000 people treated for dog bites including 1,250 toddlers and children. True figure is likely to be much higher for people who didn't go to A&E. And of course several well documented cases of people being killed in dog attacks. This is supposed to be from animals under control.

What are you suggesting, that we kill all dogs ?

Two excellent posts, but I doubt you'll convince the dangerous doggy brigade.

Shouldn't really bite the trolls but I wondered if he is being serious.

There's quite a few foxes appearing recently where i live, they all look half starved and quite a few end up as road kill. They seem to be having it very tough the last few years.

And i agree that any animal can attack a child, dogs and cats that are supposed to be domesticated included.

Just out of interest, was Hackney big on the fox hunting scene?

I live on the edge of town and we've got plenty of foxes round here.

They are cheeky gits, they are no longer shy and dart for cover when they see you, these days they stand their ground and eyeball you!

It's scary.

I quite like foxes TBH, they don't bother me.

Hope the kids get well soon.

shouldnt the parents be blamed for this? if they got burgled and the place was ransacked then surely they woulda been blamed for leaving the doors open. absolute stupidity if u ask me and blaming the fox is just daft... it doesnt know wrong from right... yes what happened to the children was appalling but if the doors were closed then this wouldnt have occurred... who in this day and age leaves the doors open overnight anyway??

whats wrong with leaving your doors open on a nice night when your sitting watching tv?

says in teh paper they were watching BGT the final so, i had the back door open whilst this was on cause it was such a warm evening?

Cheers

nothing wrong at all m8 but if ur gona leave the room unattended then anything could happen as this incident has proved. i'v also read that the area where this happened is renonwed for foxes especially at night when they just roam around... so all in honesty i think the parents are to blame. also where were the parents when this happened? how long did they leave the room unattended for?

It's all ifs and buts, but at the end of the day it's a freak accident and you are pushed to put blame anywhere; maybe the parents should have been more aware if the area is renound... maybe...
