Do You Use A AntiVirus ?

Just to clear up any confusion here - you could get a virus on any internet connected device!

Previously when >90% of systems were running MS Windows, it made sense that virus/malware writers would create malicious code targeting them.
Microsoft are still the main players, particularly in corporate environments, but now that Apple (and Google) are gaining a far greater share of the market I wouldn't rule out viruses being written which specifically target them...

Bottom line, if you're browsing the net then it's good practice to protect yourself!

I would deffo recommend it i was a victim of an android virus and its not good.I rebboted my phone one day thinking i had my usual avast on it and i didn't and some fecker hacked my twitter account and i had over 300 Chinese people add me and my twitter account was sink basically. So please get some sort of protection.

I have and wouldn't dream of ever not having it on my phone..
However, quick question, on my old phone (Blackberry) there was an app and online site to activate a location service where if you lost your phone and it was turned on, it would tell you where it is. Is there still something available out there?

For sure! I'm using CM Security and it is a fine app. Aside from being another form of defense from obvious and like the above post mentioned-they provide a bunch of very useful services such as phone location and also an automatic blocking gadget (on some) that means you basically go online and using a pre-assigned password...block it from being used...well handy!
Would not be without it.

i use McAfee, same one as on my pc works fine apart from it sends texts from your phone in the background

I haven't installed an AV in my S3 (which I used for 2 x years), nor my new S5.

The reason being is that I tend to stick to safe sites & app's when I'm on my mobile, and use my laptop for the day to day stuff such as downloading, general browsing, and perusing adult interest sites.

I'm not a tweeter, facebooker, or instagrammer, however should my mobile net usage change, I might think about added protection.
I also check the permissions of an app' before installing it, and if it requires access to areas where I believe it shouldn't, then I won't install it.

I suppose with Android & IOS being popular platforms, it won't be too long before we see attacks becoming more prevalent.

I don't use AV, you just have to be aware of where you get your apps from, if you download from the Play Store everything will be fine but be careful downloading from elsewhere.

wouldn't an anti virus on a mobile drain your battery really quickly ?

Strange that 2 newbies mention KIS and both put the best as well :)

Maybe me being cynical lol

I use F-Secure on my phone, free from vermin if you are a customer too. Seems good so far, used avast prior to that. I use apps from unknown sources so it's a better to be safe than sorry situation for me but as said before if you are careful with how you use the device you should be ok to wing it without an anti virus app. But most devices are powerful enough to run one in the background with slowing anything so if you are worried, just chuck one on :)
