Thanks, booting the image from USB - does it matter what port I put the pen in? As Ive tried to flash this image on to the box I get the menu but it seems no matter what I select from the menu I don't get a new image installation? :S

Thanks

Thats not a new image its just a app so just get your launcher screen up with all your apps on it and use app installer to install it and it will appear on the screen with the rest of your apps

Cool installed and tested - still seem to have the same issues any HD playback (local streaming movies) stutter and judder which make them un-watchable. Is there anything I can do or is it just the fact Ive bought a complete piece of sh 1 t? :)

I don't have one at the moment to try myself so no idea maybe thommo can help

Thanks @Thommo how did you get your box to play your HD content well? Other than this my box is fine it just lags with HD stuff. I must admit I get a slightly better response with beyondxbmc but still its not smooth.

Thanks

Try using mxplayer instead of the rubbish standard player, If it doesnt stream well straight out (mine did) then have a play in the settings. My box isnt too far off yours looks wise and mines a 1,6ghz dual core innards and it streams anything now perfect inc the 1080p files.

Also make sure all the settings in xbmc itself are right, librtmp in settings needs to be ticked as thats what handles the HD with these boxes.

3.3 is the one out but there is a new build with a better librtmp its a beta 3.4 but ive not updated mine yet as it just works.

Will give it a go and see, do you just install it from the play store? Also on my phone I get the prompt as to which player I want to playback with - does this happen also and can you set it so it always uses the mxplayer?

Cheers

yes the normal mxplayer will work or the pro version from where ever ;) .. As for playback default there is a config file you edit and drop in xbmc folder but i dont have it to hand at the min but i will find it or link to the file that you edit yourself.

playercore.xml and advancedsettings.xml's ... They may or may not need tweaking but they should be fine as they are.

Try the Advancedsettings.xml to up the cache amount as that can cause freezing.

I think the playercore.xml and advancedsettings.xml both go in xbmc user data but i would have to double check.

playercore to default mxplayer and advanced for upping cache.

Also use a light skin on xbmc (dont load one of those mental skins with loads going on).

Thanks will give it a bash when I get home. As for adding the files to the beyobdxbmc folder - is it a question of copying it from a usb drive to the folder location using a file browser in the box? Or can you winscp\connect to the box and browse the file structure remotely?

Thanks again :)

I used a usb drive and a android file explorer (copy from usb/paste to xbmc data folder) but i have xbmc as a addon to android rather than booting to xbmc itself but im sure you'll find a way to transfer it yourself .(flash fxp maybe).

Im being a bit thick mate - if I browse the box I can see 2 xbmc folders but neither have a lot of files in them, any ideas?

They are probably hidden folders, can you enable viewing of hidden folders?

Hi wiz, yeah I found the folders in the end and copied both files to the usr folder within xbmc but it hasn't made a blind bit of difference. Well tell a lie it has if I try and launch my pvr client which connects to my nbox it no longer streams the channels. But when a movie plays it appears to be exactly the same player as before with the same issues. I think later Im going to uninstall the xbmc which is on there and beyondxbmc and start again - second time lucky. I cant help but think its the fact its a crap Chinese box that's making it struggle.

Did you install MX Player though?

As for pvr clients on android, they suck for the most part, and most are not even supported for use on XBMC on android :(

Might be as well if you have already installed MX Player, and its not helping, to do a complete reinstall of firmware and then install XBMC

Yeah I installed the pro version and copied those files to XBMC and it didn't make a difference (the player looked exactly the same so I wonder if it was actually using the mx player)... Do you use beyondxbmc or just the standard one? Also as far as pvr clients go with XBMC Ive never had an issue with SD channels and XBMC its always been HD but this I feel is down to the hardware on my box.

But did you run MX Player once first before using it in xbmc?

I use beyondxbmc at the moment but have used normal version before, but usually a version with libstagefright installed as well as the correct playercorexml thingy :)

Did you get the files and follow the instructions in post 15 to tell xbmc to use mxplayer.

Sure did, although the path wasn't sdcard it was storage and (I think because I have beyondxbmc and normal xbmc) I had 2 xbmc paths one had the word flump in it. Will give it another go tonight and see how she fairs

Thommo is right tested lots of these Android TV Boxes , there is 1 ive tested runs xbmc like a dream very smooth indeed its the XBMC Quad Core RK3188 TV Box Android 4.2 2GB 8GB 2MP Webcam Bluetooth Mic CS968 for the money does everything really plys its an Android version of xbmc so easy to install, the only problem i came across is the version of xbmc installed played laggy and slow, i deleted it and installed the android version striaght from xbmc site, the latest stable version is Frodo 12.3 , stay away fron nightly builds of gotham until it comes out of the beta stages , for anyone who wants a look of the specs look HERE9
@biffo1, I'm pretty sure this is the box I've been looking for but just wanted to know if you had any video file formats it wouldn't play, my tv would play most video files but didn't like
.x264 mkv files. Thanks for any info.
