Hi, ive had my s3 about 2 months now so i thought id have a play about with it, after some reading i found you could download the apk files and install from sd card! So i downloaded meself tomtom uk n ireland v1.0, ive managed to install it ok, problem now is it wont find a server ?

any help appreciated

did you fix this , or has anyone had an update for this ?

no i never got it fixed, from what ive been reading, apparently tomtom server can now detect if you have bought the app or if you have tried to get it for free, if you didnt buy it, then the server detects this and wont let you download any maps etc, so basically its useless until someone can crack it

The tomtom v1.1.1 that I have still works on my HTC sensation ans samsung tab 2 10.1 (but looks crap on the samsung). But I still think IGO is way better.

Navigon I found to be really good. Turn by turn and announces street names.

Thanks mate for the heads up , there must be a way like a call function in the files etc ,
R well looks like ill have to buy it :Ha:

Grab the cracked Tomtom v1.1.1 it works. It's available on the GPS forums and also the newsgroups.

Why bother, the Google Navigation software is free and rather good. Only con is that you need access to data as the Maps aren't stored on the phone.

Because not everyone is on an ulimited data plan, proper sat nav software always beats google for features. When I go from the UK to France it would cost a fortune to use google maps.

I tried installing the tomtom v1.1, i got it up and running but it is all out of sync, and looked crap so i got rid of it and decided to try out Navfree! Since installing it just over a week ago i have covered about 500 miles this week and its never let me down yet, I wont use tomtom again i dont think. I have used motorways, country lanes and one way systems and in towns ive never been to this week and it has been 100% right evertime, Im gonna stick with it for now :D

Valid point. I have used co-pilot live which is pretty good. You also get the added benefit of traffic updates etc.

I've always found Igo Primo to be the best on proper sat nav units and now it's also really good on android.

Not a lot of program have multi drop capabilities, Primo has and will also organise multi drops in order to minimize the journey.

It has good spoken street names, although I don't think that's available in the Android one yet.

I use the android version on my phone and also my galaxy tab 2 10.1, (it's good in a 4x4 but too big for a car).

I like it also because you don't have to hack/crack the maps (unlike tomtom) you just download them and put them in the relevant folder, plus it can use maps from both of the map makers, navtec and tele atlas.

Its great having vodafone Red at times like this... unlimited everything for the first 3 months = no problem using google nav.
