just bought one of these today , getting rid of my s2, i have never rooted a phone or put a custom rom in , should i ?? or does anyone have one & what should i do to it once i get it to make it better , if anything

Got a s3 selling it cos i got my nexus 4 i love it its so fast its unreal. iv rooted every phone iv had but dont really have to urge to root it or put any roms on it. now i use carbon back up to back up apps and app data so i dont miss root at all
I agree mate its just the app data they need to save that on google servers then ill be happy..oneman have you tried carbon back up ? backs everything up no root needed

thanks lads it will stay as it is then, i checked out my mates & its much faster than the s2 i have at the moment , looking forward to it now
How long is the wait mate from google? still 2 weeks?

No real need to root you'll always be at the front of the queue for Android updates with a Nexus device. Install light flow for different coloured LED notification. Get a free account with a cloud storage provider dropbox etc useful for synching your camera pictures etc.
The other reason why you may want to root is for customisability options theres more you can customise with root and custom rom. Also may be more lightweight as well some un-needed or unused stuff can be removed, but vanilla android is light anyway compared to say..HTC sense ot Samsung Touchwiz ROMS.

thanks, I'll give it a try. I actually need to unroot my phone else my work e-mail client does not work.

well it arrived yesterday, i must say i am impressed considering the price, up to now only 2 gripes :LOL: , when you get a text it doesn't display on the screen like it did on the s2 or if you have a missed call that's the same, you only get a very small icon in the top left hand corner , on my s2 it had, eg 1 missed call from home & was easy to see, , bit of a big gripe with me that, being a taxi driver when im out the car & i miss a call, anyway i will get used to it i suppose :LOL: other than that its a cracking bit of kit !
