I was meant to get a email when in stock, just got a 8Gb for GF..Thanks for heads up

£239 / 279 is a great price. Plus its unlocked as well.

I have both the S3 and the 16GB Nexus 4. The Nexus 4 has worse battery life, poorer camera, No SD card slot, Missing Samsung specific software tweaks like smart stay, all share cast, camera tweaks like burst shot, smile detection etc, screenshot on swipe,multi-window. etc etc..

But the Nexus 4 does have more RAM (2Gb vs 1GB), faster CPU, Latest version of Android, photo sphere, Gorilla glass back, True IPS Display. The S3 has a pentlie display older technology.

Theyre both good phones..but I wouldnt really say the N4 is much of an upgrade on the S3..it's more of a side-grade..you gain newer hardware, but you loose a load of software features..biggest loss on the N4 is SD card slot and poor camera. Also reports of heat issues on the N4. The S3 has a superior software feature set as standard, touhwiz + the recent samsumg premium suite update. Nexus 4 has Vanilla Android..which is a barebones in comparison.

I'm on my 2nd N4 , first one was faulty out of the box,..WIFI issues. Also remember a 16GB Nexus 4..will only really give you 12 -14 GB usuable free space... But being a Nexus device officially supported by Google the Nexus4 will always get updates ahead of non-Nexus phones... The S3 is still stuck on Android 4.1.2 for now... Finally throw into the mix LG vs Samsung...Samsung clearly have the edge here in mobile phone production being the worlds largest smartphone producer..

A 16Gb N4 will set you back £289 (including £10 delivery charge from Google Play), which represents great value for money. Put it this way if I wasnt under contract and was buying a new phone i'd buy a Nexus 4 and get a SIM only deal. I wouldnt pay £100 more for an S3 jsut for a SD card slot and better camera... I got my S3 on contract so didnt pay for the phone. If both phones however were the same price i'd have to go with the S3,

I think the loss of some of the software is actually a benefit, I have HTC with sense at the moment and some of the built in stuff like HTC facebook is junk. My mates was S3 have said the same thing, there is some good stuff in touchwiz, and some which they would rather do without (especially the kak PC software). Much like weather widget, generally there is replacements available on market place.

Also there are already some mods out to improve the camera and though I don't think it will ever be as good as S3 or Lumina or One X there is room to improve it and I expect good to roll out the mods as the software matures. Remember the S3 has been around a while now and has had time to mature.

Agreed, I didnt think i'd ever take to Touchwiz hated it when I first got the S3, i've generally always preferred vanilla android, but over time Samsung have improved touhwiz it's become a lot better in the time it's had to mature. The latest premium pack update is great (bringing the features from the Note 2 multi-window, gallery etc..) . It's not until you go to Vanilla android that you relaiese how many little tweaks and functions have been added. Simple stuff that i've gotten used to like different coloured flashing LED notifications for text, missed calls, email etc etc.. Vibrate when you pick the phone up to notify you that you've missed something. Motion activated features.. etc. You start taking these features for granted and it was a reality shock when the Nexus 4 didnt have the features.
Certain functionality I was able to add via apps from the play store like LED notifications, others I couldnt find any replacments for..so it's not possible to gain all the features Samsung has incorporated into the S3 to the Nexus 4, some of the features are patented as well and depend on touchwiz specific libraries.
But, what remains to be seen is how long Samsung keeps support going on the S3..will it still be getting software updates after 18 months ? By then the S4 will probably be out... With the Nexus you should be more likely to get long term support direct from google.
