Hi All

I've recently upgraded my contract and as such I now have a spare HTC OneX which I'm planning on giving to the father in law. However when trying his sim it was prompting that there is a provider lock code needed to unlock from Orange.

Cut a long story short I called Orange who informed me it would be £20 and would take up to 16 days to receive the code via the post. First and foremost I own the phone so I was a little miffed that they would charge me £20 to use a device which I own etc..

So I thought the easy way would be to root the phone put a custom ROM on and voila ???

But no life isn't that easy lol I successfully rooted the phone and installed the ROM (cyanogenmod) but as soon as I launch into the new image I'm prompted with Orange sim unlock code again :-(

Is there any way to remove this lock? I heard a rumour you could read the hex and compile the code (but I wouldn't know where to start with Android etc..)

All help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks Penners

I've also got a HTC One X with custom rom but didn't rooting it will unlock. I've always thought you still need an unlock code for it.

I bought my unlock code off ebay for about £3, took about 5 mins to arrive by email

Please could you provide link or pm the seller details? Thanks

have a search around xda developers lots of links to genuine unlockers on there

Having a read today mate they also mention extracting the hex so going to go down that root. I wouldn't mind I could pay £3 -£10 on ebay and save all this hassle lol But it’s the principle the cheeky feckers.

Just found this on torrent's HTC dimond sim unlocker Ive never used it, someone could take a look if the have used one before see if it's any good.

It scanned ok with malware bytes and MSS

bit cheeky them charging after the contract, id understand when your in the contract

It’s very cheeky mate I pay £45 a month for my phones on 18 month contracts, so the contract pays for the phone yet they still try to scr3w me with a £20 code.

To be honest I called them the other day and threatened to pull all 3 remaining contracts with them. They have now promised to send the code out for free, but still have to wait up to 16 days wtf.

£45 is alot of money cheeky gits, I only pay £19.50 of virmin for 5GB data and 500 mins only got a HTC one V but £45 seems over priced.
