I've just got hold of a galaxy s3 and i put a 32gb sd card into it. for films etc when i go into hospital to get my other knee replaced. When I try to put the film files onto it it either takes it or it says it will go on but it will not play.

Any solutions to this annoying problem folks?

How big are the files, I think the card is FAT formatted so 2GB file size limit

Also which player are you using for playing them back

Isn't it 4gig limit file size on fat 32 ?

Hi mate, I'm using the video player on the phone and MOBO Player too.File sizes are only about 2gb max.

I code all my movies with freemake video convertor to mp4 and don't have any issues on either my android phone or tablets. It might be worth giving it a try.

handbrake is very good for making mp4 and it is free too

i know this happens on my tab 2, says format wont play but do i still want to progress, i know mx player will still play it so just click yes

Have you checked that it's not a memory card problem, maybe coming towards the end of it's life? I had a right dodgy one, sometimes when the phone was re-booted that all the "apps" that I had installed would say "not installed on your phone" etc.

I have a memory card here that has something on the end of the boot sector and I can't clear it. they do not last for ever, all the writes and reads. it will let me drag and copy stuff over to it, play music etc. when it comes to writing an image then there's a bust section on it. might be worth trying another memory card.

Just do a full format with Panasonic SD Format Tool twice over, then check for error's with a Defrag tool if its ok, try a different player.

try a different player.
or a new card....full format does not touch all the blocks if it's bad, (well to windows it will) bad blocks contain one or more invalid bits. they often develop over time, you can skip a bad block, but you'll often find that can cause problems further down the line, they are re-mapped, a table is made...

Aye that's true very well could be knackerd like, If his apps and stuff are working on it ok though id of thought the movie would play a bit and freeze, or the galaxy to give a SD error report, worth a shot before he chuck's it, but your very right the do not last long especially in NDS carts getting hammerd lol

makes me think of the bad blocks on the xbox 360 nands, all though, I admit that most electronic stuff is shipped with all ready bad blocks (it's what happens in manufacturing electronics) they make sure they allow enough space on the end of the memory for the "re-mapping" of bad blocks unlike m$ they shipped shit nands. but still they allowed space at the end of the nand I'll give them that.

They just roll out a firmware patch or it will automaticly re-map them, so the next firmware patch might not be all full of dazzling colors or you might even think "what did it do" it was probably telling block 10 to sit in 40, block 20 to sit in 100, then make a table and keep it handy! stand at no 10 any one asking where some block is look down the list and tell them. however you don't normally get firmware updates for memory cards, and they start to get confused with where things are

any one looking for block 10 on the table will now find them in block 40, rather than where they used to be (Block 10), it's a re-mapp bad blocks to the new location, if any one wants to find them look at this chart. as time goes by the chart gets more and more congested, ends up too much and then pttt broken.

You get me, Totally off on one. ha! and talking about bed, adios.

Yeh I reckon it's more of a dodgy card tbh mate as it was just bought recently from fleabay. I'll try a new one this week as the films work a treat on the phones memory with no problems.
