    have you actually clicked the bottom link on the image to allow your computer to network files & folders ?

    have you enabled file & printer sharing in network connections [ie control panel]

    hiya
    i am having problems with the following part

    "Streaming: PC -> DBox
    ================

    PC
    ----

    Open up a command prompt. Change directories to where vlc was installed.
    Here is what I typed in on my PC:

    c:
    cd "Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC\"

    The default port number that vlc uses is "8080". Unfortunately, I already
    had some other application using this port and had to change it to use
    port "8081" instead. This is what I typed in the command prompt to change
    the port (permanently):

    vlc --save-config --http-host=:8081

    Close the vlc window and type in the following to start vlc properly:

    vlc --extraintf=http

    This is all we need to do on the PC. Don't touch the PC and go look for
    the dbox remote."

    in my comand prompt it say the following

    "C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator"

    I never had to do any of this to get movie streaming to work.

    Follow this guide and see if it works

    hiya mate
    i cant do the following
    To share a folder, right mouse click on it, 'Properties' > 'Sharing' > 'Share this folder' > 'Permissons'
    > 'Add' > 'Locations' if you are using your normal admin account then that's all. If you created the
    extra user then you need to do the following:
    Select the name of your PC, 'OK' > enter dbox in the object names field, click 'OK' > click 'OK'
    again and one more 'OK'.

    how do i set permissions

    look at the picture attached this is what i get to when i right click on properties and click on sharing tab
