just put my pc together.can't get it to recognize my hdd which is a maxtor 80gig,can anybody help? p.s. its ide not sata

its a 8s661fxmp-rz i wonder if i have to disable serial ata controller?

I know it sounds obviousy but check its set to master and your ide is connected properly. If you cant see it under the bios menu then try testing it another comp that why you will know if its the HDD or if the actual Bios needs updating, which I doubt.

Change the ribbon and make sure it has it's own IDE channel, don't share it with a cd/dvd or other drive.

Are the channels set to "auto" in BIOS?
