i have dm800se clone running openpli 2.1 and getting a hell of alot of crashes with green screens, mainly when i try set timers or watch something on 1 channel the box will just freeze up (something about not enough memory)
what im wanting to know is if i was to get a internal hdd would this stop this from happening and also is there a better openpli out for the dm800se clones that i may be able to use.
on the little sticker under the box it says 210

Hi mate this usually happens when yes no space.The best thing to do short term is use a usb stick/pen drive as storage.
make sure it is set to that in menus..if you have a usb for EPG stuff it can still be used for storage of timers and recordings
if you have a USB drive for EPG and swap for a larger one say 32GB this will be loads and allow 5-6 hours of HD recording.
also remove any plugins etc from plugins menu you are not using or not needed also any skins or picons etc ONLY IF NOT IN USE.
this is a normal thing mate once you remove some stuff all will be well.also most pli images are fat.

yes sim 210.so your box is "DM800se clone- sim 210- ssl84b" thats its title for now.

hi mate i have a 2gb pen installed and have 1gb left on it but still getting green screen quite often, would an internal hdd be better if so ill get down to maplins but don't want the added expense if i dont need it
 
Look at you plugins menu and see if there are any plugins you can remove ones you don't need.

make sure your not downloading a EPG to your flash or this will cause real problems.

As you have a usb stick also setup a swap file this help when plugins require a lot of memory in use and hardware can also use the swap file if needed.

means download epg to pen drive(flash drive) not system drive(flash memory)

Also i have a 60GB 2.5 HDD you can have if you want that i used in my dm800se untill i put in a SSD works perfect,I dont want or need anymore save you buying one.IT will only give you 10-11 hours of HD recording but was more than enough for me...

cheers for that AJT, @Ferret how do i setup a swap file, no doubt you guys are getting abit fed up with me now it seems everyday im asking you for help and once again i apologise for my ignorance and lack of knowledge of the box

Nothing mate its only sitting here doing nothing as i have moved to solid state drives with everything.Give a donation to poppy appeal in November if you like.

EDIT:Okay will post to you today..Dead easy open up your box(2 screws one on each side 3 on back)
remove cover you will see space for HDD and it just slips in face up and push home..done.
on your box go to menu/hard drive and initialize..once that's done make sure in crossepg it is set to download to HDD then hit download job done,Hdd should also then be set up to record also so try it out.
once you have done some recording press right bottom grey button on remote this brings you to media player and you will see the files you have recorded select one press okay and view...Happy Days...Enjoy.

Hi Mate, I don't think we can create swap file on PLi images that easily but it can be done via the command line.

Telnet to the box then.....

Make sure the device you want your swapfile on is mounted e.g. like "ls /hdd" or "ls /media/hdd" returns a file list (at least lost&found).
The following assumes adjusting and exisiting swap on /hdd - note that using your hard disk is not a good idea as it will have the disk active a lot of the time, rather use a flash disk.
If you are setting up swap for the first time skip step (1).
1. /sbin/swapoff /hdd/swapfile --- do this only if you are adjusting swapfile size, adjust this to where you have a swapfile at the moment if any
2. /bin/dd if=/dev/zero of= /hdd/swapfile bs=1048576 count=32 -- adjust /hdd to where the device is mounted that you want the swapfile on; adjust count=32 to size of swap in MB
3. /sbin/mkswap /hdd/swapfile
4. /sbin/swapon /hdd/swapfile

It's much better to delete plugins you don't need to free up some space as experts on the OpenPLi forum recommend that swapfile is not needed on DM800** box as its likely to do more harm then good. Swap file is really only needed on the older Enigma1 boxes that had very little memory. Hope this helps

Not in front of my box to be specific mate ill let you know when I get home from work. But it involves installing a plugin first.
 
hi guys thought i would check my pen drive and it's returned the following info:
checking filesystem...
Error: filesystem (and not swap or ufs or something else), then the superblock
is corrupt, and you might try running e2fsck with an alternate superblock:
e2fsck -b 8193 <device>

any help on this one please
 
also when i press ok i get this:

fsck.ext3: bad magic number in super-block while trying to open /dev/sda1
 
Reformat the stick mate, use device manager to do it if its not there in your image it can be downloaded via the plugins menu press the green button and look in there.

ok mate it wont let me donwload as its saying theres not enough space and don't know where to remove plugins as when i press red button to remove it says no new plugins found
 
In plugins menu start software manager plugin you may be able to uninstall with that.

This is why your having the issues no space you should never run it so full.
 
you mean reflash openpli, if so is there any good full dumps around with bb iplayer and 1 channel installed also if poss picon and cool epg
or am i asking the world asking for all that with hdd
