Today I went to Bluewater (shopping center) with her indoors, we decided to have a coffee in starbucks, she wanted a toastie and waited for it, I went and got a table with some nice soft chairs, while I'm sitting there a young lad about 24 - 25 obviously badly disabled asks can he join us at the table as he needs an armchair, of course no problem .. anyway to the shity stuff, we get talking and it turns out he is ex forces, lost a leg and about to have half he's arm off, also has a broken back thats been fused is 2 places, injured in Afghanistan

This guy has been refused ANY compensation by the govenment .. WTF !!!!!!!!! we should hold our heads in shame, I cannot believe it, what made it even worse for me is when I left I shook he's hand and said thankyou to him and he said I was the first person to ever say that to him WTF AGAIN !!!

Just made me think and has really haunted me, I am ashamed tbh

not great to read mate and i hope the boy gets the comp he is due
make you feel shit when you think the goverment fight hard to not pay these people any cash and even harder to kick them off what ever benifits
that are due to these guys

Also what I forgot to mention in the first post was it took Prince Harry to put up the cash for a decent prosthetic leg for the lad, I don't normally have a lot of time for the royals but fair play to him, but it still comes down to the fact that Harry shouldn't of had to intervene, the lad should have the very best treatment and want for nothing ever again, makes my piss boil it really does

I dont know if i would have said thank you. - From the point of view that it may have upset the lad even though i am extremely proud.

IMO anyone who serves in the forces and does a tour should benefits for life. Anyone who has suffered any injury should nerver need to worry about money/get any help they require - it shouldn't even be in question.

I was proud of the lad, and thanked him for all he had done, seemed the least I could say tbh

Makes you sick how this Country treats our forces, especially when you read what some people get for the most stupid of injurys.
Take a read of some of these
