I recently purchased a spiderbox on eBay and installed it in my house, set up a sub with a server everything is working great.

My parents came round to visit, my dad seen the setup, said to himself "I'll have some of that!" and purchased a box on e bay himself.

Now I'm new to this but my box was easy enough set up, however I've got a couple of test lines for dads box and I can't get any of the sly uk channels working but can get the likes of nat geo and Mutv sometimes, everything else is just scrambled channel or no signal. I've been trawling forums all night.

The only difference I can see between my dads box and mine is my Ethernet setting is connected but his cant seem to find a connection and just says
Login is failed error code 209.

Any help here will be much appreciated

Assuming that you've followed the well documented procedure for setting up the box/applied the latest patches etc. - and it would seem so as you have one yourself - a couple of questions.

You have entered the test clines so it should say how many cards are connected.

Have you loaded a new channel list, done a manual scan of 28E or even entered frequencies manually? I ask this because of the 'no signal' message and some of the transponders in the database may not be up to date.

Is the box new or second-user?

If Spiderbox second hand gift probably expired, so turn this off as it will interfere with your sub line.

Check all the frequencies are up to date on kingofsat.

Thanks for reply mate, yes box is second user. I assume the gift is well past it. I entered the Newcamd lines and I get cards showing, put in the latest march 2012 patch, and then blind scanned on 28e.

Now I don't know what transponders are and I think I've explored every other avenue so would be grateful if you could shed some light on this for me in laymans terms lol!

Just getting to grips with this whole thing so could you explain in a little more detail of how to check frequencys please?

I realise it seems an obvious thing to ask, but are the FTA channels such as BBC1/2/3/4 and ITV1 channels OK (although a few are encrypted).
The reason is to establish if any of those channels show as 'scrambled' or 'no signal'.

For example if you do a manual scan on 28E for (say) 10788.00V DVB-S 22000 5/6 you will find BBC1 West Midlands/Yorkshire and Lincs/East/Wales and these should all have a good signal and are FTA.

Similarly a manual scan of 11895.00 V DVB-S 27500 2/3 will bring MTV Rocks/Hits/Dance/Bass/Classic etc. again with a good signal and if your n:line is working correctly they will clear

If either of the above show 'no signal' then possibly the dish installation needs attention (connectors/cable/LNB/alignment). Although if you've already done a blind-scan those frequencies/transponders would have been found anyway

Manual scan of one transponder:
Menu>Manual Scan>(Enter PIN code)
The select Astra 2A/2D (28.2E) enter the details (or use the left/right arrows to select frequency etc) and on Search Option choose one TP) then 'Start Search'

Sorry if this seems a bit OTT but it's an attempt to establish what's happening particularly with the 'no signal' message

Test lines can be a bit hit and miss but a simple test would be if you have working lines put them into your fathers box (yours must be switched of or you will both get booted off the server. If all works well then get him to sigh with the server you use but remember to remove your lines from his box.

watsi23 if your dad is using a fixed dish on 28 East this channel list is pretty much upto date and all the Favourites are sorted as follows

It could provide easy viewing for your Dad
