    Any plumbers\heating engineers?

    Hi guys,

Im trying to work out why when the central heating is turned off the bathroom rad (bypass rad - no trv's) is warm\hot? The misses has said that other rads were warm too but Im yet to get back home to investigate. This is a new heating system, and the boiler if relevant is a Ideal Logic+

    Cheers

Has your boiler got a timer programme on it, perhaps its been put on by mistake and it's turning your heating on. It's Only a guess mind you.

Why is there a bypass? Was it solid fuel before maybe? A new system including all pipework?

    Re: Any plumbers\heating engineers?

The thermostat is wireless and wasnt switched on. When I say bypass I mean, there are rads without TRV's - forget the termanology but its for when the heating needs to get rid of the heat if the rads are turned down - think it protects the boiler from either cooking or blowing up... And yes its a new system including all pipework. I was involved in laying the pipework so I can answer any questions on that.

    Cheers!

    Re: Any plumbers\heating engineers?

Okay, reason I asked was because old solid fuel systems needed a bypass rad to get rid of excess heat. Bathroom rads are sometimes set up as bypass rads so they keep towels warm even when the heating is off. Sometimes there can be some 'bleed' into the rest of the system via thermo-siphon so it could be quite normal...
