    Firefox

    Hi

why are Mozilla making so many changes to Firefox it is getting silly now, its not that you have to do an update that is just the nature of software i understand and appreciate why this is necessary.

its the other software you run that utilise plugins, when Firefox updates you then spend the evening updating all the plugins and if you have more than 1 pc if a eeeefffing nightmare.

i only upgraded 1 of my machine Sunday to version 13.1 and confirmed all the programs worked ok and now i have had a message to say version 14.1 is available.

i do like Firefox and have used for years, i am forced to use I.E at work it works but i always think it feels clunky and i wont use chrome cos i dislike Google.

Sorry this should be in the rant room.....lol

i did read some where that google are watching Mozilla and are ready to buy to get more market share.....

anybody have any suggestions on how to get old plugins to work ? in about:config perhaps ?

    Re: Firefox

Mozilla said that they want to compete with other browsers (meaning chrome) so they ramped up the update routine to keep up. Also more frequent updates mean we get bug fixes and patched security issues faster.

I don't know about plug-ins not working (and I use a lot of them) they just update themselves with firefox. I haven't had a message about a plug-in not working since firefox 10. I suppose it's all down to the age of the plug-in. I always try to find one that does the job I need and is also up to date and in constant development.

I've tried quite a few browsers and apart from Safari, Opera, Chrome and Firefox they are almost always Internet Explorer based.

I started using firefox back when Mozilla called it Netscape Navigator, before AOL bought Netscape and Mozilla split off and started Firefox. Way back in the days when every magazine & postal delivery had a Compuserv or AOL dial-up disc in.

Use firefox all the time, my other prefered browser at the moment is Opera. I just don't update firefox every time a new one comes out.

    Re: Firefox

@Captin yes a lot of plugins do update automatically but there are 2 apps that don't every time and in many cases you have to update the program too. Sticky Password is one and IDM (internet Download Manager) is another i also had a lot of bother with British Dictionary but that seems sorted now.

just seems that if MSoft can do security updates (lets face it they do loads to browser most months) to what ever version of IE without cause havoc why cant Mozilla ?
