Personally I would flash the second router with DD-WRT and then configure it as a wireless bridge - this will give you two routers with the same SSID and password - increase your wireless signal around the house and give you lan ports available to use from both routers. Its pretty straightforward and lots of tuts on the DD-WRT wiki!!
why are the 2 routers IP on different subnets then .. I have three routers at home all conencted via long ethernet cable. Router 1 is 192.168.1.1 Router 2 192.168.1.2 and Router 3 192.168.1.3 - all have wifi enabled but different SSID and DHCP disabled on router 2 and 3. As stated by others, it becomes a normal switch.
