an altenitive to the vermin "none" super hub

looking at getting an "n" router to use on my Vermin doublespeed connection.
the superhub is a pile on shite, well for wifi anyway.

so, I'm after a fast reliable router so i can use the superhub in modem only mode.
we have 2-3 comps on most times [2 with "n" lappies. and a PS3 on "g".] as such it needs to do simultaneous transmission of "G" and "N". (lol, unless they all do that)

I've made a lot of posts recently on a new Router, same process, virgin in modem mode, netgear on the end of it, bridge on the end of that next door.

NetGear RangeMax 3500L 300 Mbps 4-Port Gigabit Wireless N Router. (this is my weapon of choice) just make sure what ever one you buy is 10/100/1000 Gigabit

dont know about you chaps but my superhub is on a 60mb line but i only get 32mb via wireless and did ring and ask and they nsaid this was normal due to what type ob wireless card i have installed (Atheros AR5B93 Wireless Network Adapter) which does b, g, and n, wife laptop is the same and daughters does just b, and g the boys computer are connected via homeplugs same as the dreamboxs, they told me to connect direct to see what speed i get then, i will one day when i vcan be bothered.

just done a speed test and thats with sondown loading from utorrents (Download Speed: 37846 kbps (4730.8 KB/sec ) (Upload Speed: 2875 kbps (359.4 KB/sec )

I'd love to wait. but, having talked to some doing the firmware update testing, it doesn't fix the problems.
at least three other [EU] providers, using this Netgear chipset, that are having similar issues.
R35 was supposed to fix it! and that got pulled prior to its release.

lol, me too. I get 73mbit via wired. (speedtest.net) 37mbit via wifi.
but the signal is poor. connections drop out/timeout. and the hub USED to reset all the time. in comparison to the old netgear vermin sent me, it utterly hopeless.

I fixed the resets. vermin have the lease to expire every hour or, 3600 seconds. so i set it to 99999999. that should give several months (providing you dont reboot the modem)

@ Dibbers. I am using inssider. I'm the only connection, around here, on "N". tried all the channels, and repositioned it all over the house.
its just about acceptable if its 1 meter from the lappy, any further it starts dropping out.

and its vermin who are suggesting to me i get a router and use their "SUPER" (sic) hub as a modem.

have you tried changing your channel, could be where the router is situated etc.

    have a look at inssider...

well its up to you mate, if i was in your shoes i would wait just a little longer for the new f/w update.

yes i know there were some bugs to be ironed out with the r35 f/w thats what beta testers are all about to test the new f/w b4 release.

i think this time virmin wants this new f/w to be right b4 they finally release it which i think is the right thing to do....

i just dont understand why some gets problems and some dont like me.........

Re: an altenitive to the vermin "none" super hub

Only problem i have come across which is really strange, and i cant work out what would cause it, when i first got the hub i had it installed in bedroom worked a dream, anyway my 800se is downstairs and it didnt like me flashing it through home plugs (no idea why) so i moved it downstairs works fine but for some reason i have to reboot it every couple of weeks as wireless plays up, only thing i can think of is its because its behind the TV which could be causeing trouble.

    What do you think.

well they do say don't install the hub behind or by tvs and hifis ....

have you got enough cable to move it further away from your tv.... if so move it and see if that sorts out your prob...
