Hi,

Could anyone please be able to advise me if it is possible to process the following sequence of events?

1. Flash the SSL 84b to a DM800 SE using one browser tab without reboooting.
2. Open up another browser tab and connect to the box and flash the image then reboot using the tick in the box "Reboot After Flash"

Or, does the box have to be rebooted after flashing SSL 84b then connected to again to flash the actual image?

some member flash the bootloader again after the image then reboot, just to make sure its gone on correctly, flashing bootloader twice dont do any harm.

The only reason you should be flashing the bootloader first is if you are upgrading the bootloader,
if this is the case then you must reboot the box after flashing the bootloader and then you can flash the new image,

If you need to flash a bootloader after an image e.g. after flashing an unpatched image then yes you can do what you suggest above

Thanks for the advice and clarification guys, I understand it better now.

I was upgrading the bootloader from 84a to 84b so flashed the SSL 84b first then rebooted. On reboot, I got an error message and the existing image on the receiver failed to boot. I turned the receiver off then flashed the pre-patched DW v1 image and it all booted OK. I was just wondering if this could be done without the interim reboot so as to avoid the error message. however, as you have pointed out, the reboot between flashes is mandatory.

As far as I'm aware you can just reboot it as far as the **stop** message and therefore not completely rebooting thus avoiding the error,

I just prefer to do the full reboot, although I have never got an error as such

The reason you got the error as pointed out by wiz is probably because your current image didn't support ssl84b.
