well just had a community officer come out to have a look (we really need a rolleyes smiley). he looked at it and thats it, still no SOC but they are coming out.

its going down as old fashioned TWOC so shouldnt have an issue with insurance as vandalism.

another got done 15 mins after mine just down the road so it looks like someone wanted a lift home as neither are "joy rider" cars. they didnt get that one either and did the same damage to that one door pulled back ect...

amateur as apparently it was one lad on his own (another reason to think it was a lift home job as it was cold and pissing it down).

he lives another day but it'll catch up with him.

My house got burgled once so I know how you feel. Once we'd worked out where he lived (wasn't very hard), my housemate and I decided we were going to remove one of his fingers one night - after the police interest had subsided. Fortunately, he got stabbed to death by another local scrote before we had the chance to. Oh well, some you win....

Just be careful you don't over react and get punished more than he does. You'll go down for a bit for battering him, and he'll have to pick up leaves at the old peoples home for nicking your motor. Think about it.

    Re: little f*cking c*nts

well there coming to get in within the hour, i can leave it for the police and finger prints but if anything else happens to it in the mean time im not covered, so ive had to get them to come tow it, that means no finger prints for the police but what chance of catching them anyway so best to look after my own interests.

dont know how this works as ive never claimed before but it sounds like its going in for repair yet they have not seen it yet??? or do they take it in to repair then total the costs and if its too much then they write it off?

tbh the repairs will be less than the cars worth probably not by much tho so they may repair it but looking at it myself id say is it really worth the effort but i suppose they'll go with whats cheapest to them.

there giving me a courtesy car while they repair it, so sounds like thats the plan to fix it... or is this just what they do? never had to make a claim before so i dont know.

They will take it to their authorized repair garage for examination, they will then decide if its cheaper to repair or to write off,
the only thing about write offs is you never get a good valuation from them ,regardless of what you have it insured for

    Re: little f*cking c*nts

I had a car nicked from outside my house about 20 years ago, early hours of the morning. My next door neighbour heard something and witnessed it being driven away so rang me straight away.
I immediately rang the Police and 15 minutes later got a call back from them saying my car was on the forecourt of a 24 hour garage 3 miles away. The garage attendant seen 3 lads get out of the car but the Police said that they could not prove that these lads were involved with the theft.

My car stereo was on the front passenger seat and there were 2 empty Carling cans in the car. Fingerprinting?, never even bothered with it. I paid close on £500 to repair the damage to the door and ignition barrel rather than go through the insurance. I hope things go better for you Thommo but I wouldn't bank on it mate.

    Re: little f*cking c*nts

tbh if it was just a snapped barrel and the lock put through id have probably not bothered with the insurance either but the door is all bent out so that needs a replacement and the wiring is all over the place and i think its best to claim this time (1st time ever).

we had a lock on another car done years ago while it was parked outside a cinema and they robbed the car, back then we didnt bother and just fixed it ourselfs but this was way worse and i think theres some heavy duty cost going into it which i dont want to foot.

ive to pay 150 excess regardless but £150 or the full bill its a no brainer.

no claims will go down but i wont lose them - confirmed, approx 3 yrs worth.

insurance will go up but not this year but renewal time i can expect to pay more - hopefully not a piss take amount, someone i know claimed on a non fault hit and run and theres went up 90 quid the year after, that i can handle.

i still think they will repair it but i hope they jack it as i wanted to get a new car anyway lol, yes i'll be out of pocket whatever happens excess and lower than market value on the car but i suppose ive to suck it up.

im not actually as pissed off as i thought i would be at this stage but last night id have gone john rambo on the lads ass (of cousre after he attacked me when i caught him and was defending myself). doesnt matter, didnt happen,.

just need things to go smoothly as ive never claimed before so dont know if its going to be aggro or plain sailing... im with esure so dont know if they are good with claims or not... hopefully they are ok, nice enough on the phone so far but thats just the reporting stage theres no money involved at the minute.

Nice to see that you can take a more relaxed look at it now m8,
its an absolute bummer when it first happens but at the end of the day it will soon pass into memory, and with a bit of luck you will be able to get yourself a new motor,at least new to you anyway

    Re: little f*cking c*nts

@ Thommo don't take this the wrong way mate but quite a few years ago my van got stolen from outside my house. 2 Months later the Police contacted me to say my van had been used as a getaway vehicle for robbers. The Police told me they had it in there compound and for me to come and pick it up. When I went to get my van I couldn't believe it they had resprayed it the same colour and done the interior up. After getting my van home it just didn't feel right it felt dirty as if it was no longer my van. I sold it a month later. What I am saying to you mate is when your car is repaired you may lose confidence in it and it will be a big worry to you and you may feel like changing it. Sorry mate that is just how I felt you may be different.

you should be ok with the insurance, if you had 10 years most companies give full ncd for 5 years.
