Discuss mkv and avi files at the AV & HOME CINEMA within the DigitalWorldz - Satellite, Cable, Console Forums; anyone know whats going on what ever film or program i threw at my TV on memory stick mkv.avi,mp4 all use to play fine, but just lately mkv files and avi files show up on ...

    mkv and avi files

    anyone know whats going on what ever film or program i threw at my TV on memory stick mkv.avi,mp4 all use to play fine, but just lately mkv files and avi files show up on memory stick as a greyed out picture with the number 5 in them, and it pops un invalid file format, but they work fine on laptop, anyone got any ideas my TV is 39" led with 2 usb slots.

    run the files through gpsot and see how its been encoded (the green boxes upper right under video), my dads will not play anything when has qpel encoding.

    If There's no update for the telly then

    1) re-encode yourself
    2) download a different version

    I will have to check out my tv web site see if there is a update! If not whats the best software to convert them to avi/divx

    Freemake video converter is what I use, its never let me down. I used to use convertxtodvd but I find freemake faster.

    I have had the same problem with the mkv format.

    I just use good old virtuldub, re-encode time I suppose depends on your PC

    As dave said and re-encod time does depend on your computer, the more ram the quicker it will be.

    just got the updated for my TV we will see what haoppens now, if not i will have to rencode
