    FTP Setup ?!?!?

Looking for information on setting up FTP between a laptop and a Desktop computer on my home network.

What I would like to do, is go in and browse the whole (C) drive on both the Laptop and Desktop computer depending on what one I'm using at the time.

Windows 7 Professional is my OS on both.

3rd party apps, not preferred but not essential.

    Cheers lads,

    Re: FTP Setup ?!?!?

hello mate, that's not an "FTP" as such, just a "share" so right click on the drive or the folder that you want to share on your network, and then give it privileges to read and write, then go back to the "other" computer/laptop, and then go to "map network" drive, it should then appear and you can then add it to your existing machine that your on as a drive.

    Hope that helps.

Sharing, as described above, is deffo the easiest but if someone really wants FTP then FileZilla is free for Windows in both client and server versions.

after what I've seen though, I'd never be happy with a program like that running on my network...if you get me......just never been happy and had a few "scares" in the past shall we say...lol (and probably scared a few people at the same time..ha)

Dibs mate, I can see you spent some time putting your first reply together, pictures and everything. Cheers will try this.

Him her, learned and found a lot of political posts interesting ( or that's what I call it ) but can't be sure whether I'll try FileZilla out, but you never know, FileZila is fresh in my head now. Cheers mate

As far as I know, FileZilla is just some Open Source software I've been using for years, the political element is fud

You can use userv to setup an home FTP. But op is looking to setup a LAN from what I can see. You can just map the drives of each machine once you setup the LAN.

My thoughts too, but didn't fathom the political part of the reply...
