    Help 5402 dead!

The stb has been patched and running fine for 8 months, then after a reboot (power off then on) the stb now starts up with the language selection screen (i.e. the same screen you get following a factory reset) and it is frozen on this screen. I have returned it to my suppplier today but he reckons Technomate will say the warranty is null and void as the stb has patched and not official f/w loaded. So I'm thinking of getting it back from the suppliers before they ship it back to Technomate and possibly restoring the f/w maybe using the Technomate Loader and a null modem cable?

Can anyone advise which loader to use and procedure and has anyone else had this problem and managed to cure it?

    Cheers

    Re: Help 5402 dead!

Thanks for the link Manic. I tried the procedure as post 2 above, this is what happened:
By pressing on/off button while powering up got me into the loader menu.
Tried a factory reset - still hung up after reboot.
So I loaded official f/w 117 from technomate official site onto usb making sure that it was the only .stb file in the root directory.
Powered back up into loader menu, stb auto found the f/w and installed it without any prompts.
Stb rebooted and hurray I'm back into the menu's all seems fine!
So I do a reset from menu and then go on to load 120p from d/l site, f/w installs stb reboots and its now frozen on main menu (not on initialising menu as it did when it 1st fooked up). Try rebooting again and its still frozen.
So again I boot into loader menu and install offical 117, again its working fine.
So after a reset I try to load 118p, same result frozen on main menu screen after reboot.
So again I reload offical 117 using loader menu.
Now after another reset I try for 111p, after reboot I get just a black screen on tv (through hdmi I've not tried scart).
So through loader menu I'm now back on offical 117 and the stb appears to work fine. All well and good for fta I need a working patch!
Running out of options I decide to try a reset, then load 120p from usb menu, but as you can guess the stb is locked up again afer it self reboots on main menu. So now I try to reload addon_2 using the loader menu as I'm thinking the corruption is in the area of memory used by the addon_2 as this is the only area of working memory that I've not overwritten in the above. I had to go by the loader method as the stb now back on 120p just freezes if you let it boot the patched f/w.
After I reload addon_2 the stb reboots and 'back of the net', I'm in main menu all working fine, 8281 gives the desired result.

Note - when using loader menu on stb you must put official f/w in the root with no other .stb file as the stb auto finds and installs. Then to access other files which I'd put in a subfolder on usb you must remove usb stick before booting into loader menu, then insert usb and navigate to patch or addon_2 file.

So we are back up and running, many thanks to Manic and Zorch!

    Cheers

    Hi headwest & manic01,

Thanks should also go to thijss26 as I believe he was the first member to mention how to access the 'Loader Menu'...

    Best Wishes,
