Is there anyway of finding out what chip was used without tearing it apArt

Can u just soft mod it as well as it being chipped
Third if it can be soft modded what's the best solution been reading up on it and it just looses me

It may be hard to find out which chip is installed.

I have mine softmodded and also have a chip installed, so yes.

I've done mine a few times but I think the easiest way by far is Modmii. Just download it and run it on your PC and it will ask questions and download and configure files and copy them onto your SD card, you just put it into your Wii and it does all the work.

If you go down the softmod route I would recommend using a USD hard drive for the games. Much easier than messing about with loads of discs.

yes it does.

a fully updated modded wii will play almost all games..
