I'm running Mint 12 with LXDE, graphics and look aren't all the important to me, so I go for the lightweight desktops. I've been having a problem with my mouse in LXDE in that when using the scroll wheel it jumps a page at a time instead of a few lines. It's very annoying esp when using forums. Also experienced this problem when using xfce.

Any help or solution appreciated.

You could try installing 'gpointing-device-settings' - it will appear in Control Centre or 'synclient VertScrollDelta=x' and experiment with different values of x (try in the range of 20-100)...
