I'm guessing that's about an hours labour plus parts. It's not too bad but more than I would have paid. When I had a diesel mondeo it cost about £20 for a set of halfords own brand plugs, an hour of my time and the skin off my knuckles. Get a Haynes manual and do it yourself! (unless you need to service in garage due to warranty)

    Re: glowplugs

i recently changed the glow plugs on my vectra , cost around £ 30 for the bosch plugs . replaced them myself, had a nightmare of a time getting them out . got them out in the end with the help of WD40.

I suppose it depends what he charges for the more complicated labour intensive jobs,
he might be more reasonable on them so therefore charges a bit extra on the small stuff to try even it all out

    Re: glowplugs

I would say It was a little expensive it does not take a mechanic an hour to change spark plugs more like 20 mins and the max cost for a set of 4 is £30 like someone already said.

so hes charged you £63 for a simple job then again it is winter and they have to make money, I just got some coils changed and the bloke only charged me £70 but its a very simlar job.

If you trust him though stay with him its always best to stay at one garage. If I was you I would be doing small jobs like your self its easy enough and theres loads of vids on utube to walk you through the process.

Glow plugs pre-heat the combustion chamber on diesel engines.... as diesel combusts under pressure and not with a spark, the heat from the glow plugs aids with the initial start up.

    Re: glowplugs

to be fair cost of glow-plugs £30 on eBay
i would say about 30 mins to change them
so for a garage to do them i would say that about right

to be fair to the garage you would need to check the make of the glow-plugs to find out the cost of them to be sure if he rip you of or not
