Hi all, i have a computer here, fan's spin up for all off 2 sec's and die,i have tried everything to sort it and have narrowed it to the mobo, cleared cmos removed ram, wires etc etc...basically i have tried all i can think off, anyone any idea what it may be? tried cpu in another computer so its fine, tried another mobo and cpu in the case so i know it's not a power button or case issue....any ideas peep's?

Hi biggles,is it a new motherboard, if so is the yellow and black wire with 4 pin plug that comes from the power supply plugged into the motherboard.

yeah it's a new/ish type,4 pin connector is plugged in yeah. i have tried everything, and can't think off any more, there is what looks like slight burn near some solder, nothing bad, infact it just looks like flux has not been removed/cleaned,this goes to a coil looking object,i might hit it with a bit off heat incase it's a dry joint.
baffled really tho

could be dead motherboard, check to see if any capacitors have buldged, if its new then take it back to where you got it from.

cap's are all fine, guess i may just give up on it,it's not new enough for a refund
mobo problems i have had in the past have been obvious, burnt track, duff cap etc etc but this 1 looks fine.

only other thing I can think of is motherboard is shorting to the case - can you take motherboard out of the case and see if it works without fitting it into case.

yeah tried that, took it out and put it on a rubber mate and booted it up by shorting the switch pins, same thing, fans for a few seconds than closes down...new mobo ordered,it's beaten me.
