Is this for the case or is it for the psu or motherboard.

case psu to power the motherboard
i wouldnt mess with a psu mate. if something goes wrong it could mean big bother for your system.

From the few I've stripped down PSU fans don't seem to use standard case fan connectors, probably to stop you doing what you want.

so i can not buy a case fan same size as the psu fan cut the wires and screw in? the bearing have gone in the fan thats why i need to change it

Don't see why not , sure that would be fine.

You could, but it's not recommended...
If you go ahead anyway, you'll have to heat shrink the joins on to the original connector. When the PSU is open, visually inspect the capacitors for bulging. If there are any, bin the PSU and buy a new one. Be careful not to touch any capacitors; whilst any residual charge is unlikely be enough to kill you, they are surprisingly easy to knock off.

thanks for all the infor but all fixed now got a case fan for £1.50 cut the old wires and put new fan in work great
glad you have got it going keep an eye on it though. and keep sniffing it to make sure there isnt any smoke lol
