Hi guys,

Tried to jailbreak the missues iphone since I was able to do mine ages ago but seems I've completedly messed up!

It was on baseband:01.59.00
version 4.0.1

Tried to jailbreak it using limerain and it worked. When I tried to install App sync for v 4 from sinfulrepo thats when the prob started. It hung on the restart.

Then went into Recovery mode and I tried a few things I read about until I ended up with it in DFU mode and not coming back!

been like this for 6 hours now - I can hold down power and home button and get a sound and itunes will recognise it as prompt for a recovery.

Tried to recover using previous versions but failing. Tried to restore to 4.1 but at the end getting 1004 error (I'm using TinyUmbrella as I read about apple not signing off these versions etc) but I also read 1004 is about incompatible base band??

HELP! If I just recover to default settings and take the hit upgrading to 4.3 - will I also lose her stuff like pictures and videos? I did sync it before doing this stuff...

Any ideas pls let me know.

Edit: Got error 1004 and followed the instructions below but cant get out of dfu

5. If near the end of the restore process you get error 1004 or 1015 do not panic it is expected. Just use the “kick device out of recovery” button and your device should boot up. If that doesn’t work you can download recboot from here to boot your device:Fix iPhone Recovery Mode Loop - Works On iPhone 4 & Windows 7

using recboot I get USBMuxListenerCreate: No error

hi mate for starters do you need the unlock ?
IF YOU DONT, then restore your idevice by downloading the ipsw from Here once downloaded, open itunes and as you hit the restore button hit the shidt key , this will bring you up a windows box, browse to your ipsw file you downloaded , and restore your phone

DO NOT JUST HIT RESTORE IN ITUNES YOU WILL UP DATE THE IPHONE TO 4.3

Thanks for quick reply, I will try this after I get back from work.

I did try a 4.1 and 4.2 ipsw file that I downloaded ages ago but will try downloading from there and see

Can I try unlock after this?

If all else fails will restore to 4.3 means all the pictures etc will be lost?

everything is lost unless you ran a backup option in itunes before you started

I sync'd it before - anyway to double check in itunes without the phone being recognised?

Ok I got out of DFU by re-jailbreaking using redsnow twice!

Then plugged it into itunes and restored from previous back up and still have photos etc !

It's been 20 hours of hell but at least getting somewhere!

only problem I'm having now is that it doesnt seem to comeback after a reboot so have to use redsnow again but at least there is a way.

After 24 hours with a 3 hours sleep in between, I'm ready to give up!
Thought all was ok and left it only to return to a non responsive blank screen. Have tried previous methods and everything I've read about getting the screen back but no success. I can get it to a stage where I can hear the phone rings if I ring it but cannot answer it since screen is not showing anything.

I'm going to try and restore via itunes to 4.3 and hope for the best

it means its a thethered jailbreak mate , everytime you reboot your iphone you will have to use redsn0w to kick back up, if you are on the 4.3 fw thats the only jailbreak available for now

thanks biffo - dont know if its on 4.3 since when I got the screen back (bout an hour ago) it was showing 4.1.

but now just blank screen as described above

oh well - updated to 4.3 inc baseband but at least phone is working and all her photos and stuff are back - still feel like a miserable failure though
