I have A Panny G20 42" that i bought in Nov last year.
Over xmas it started to drop picture, but you could hear the sound.
Only after several hours veiwing and would do it no matter what the source.
The only solution is to turn the set off and leave it a couple of minutes and turn it back on.
The problems getting worse and i have noticed power up of picture is taking longer.
Im not impresed to by having problems with a top band set thats only 4 months old.
I even unplugged all input leads except Freesat feed and it still does it.
I bought it off the net from a Firm in birmingham, they have been trading 25 years.
Paid £630 for it new and boxed.
They even delivered it themselves from Birmingham.
the TV is almost unuseable, so going to ring Panasonic when i have found my receipt and see what they are prepared to do.
I did my homework and bought this TV based on reveiws and searching the net i appear to be the only person to experience this problem.
Gutted at the moment and not impressed at all!

It sounds like some sort of processor fault so it needs a new A board. You are bound to have a few that go wrong. It dosent matter what brand it is it comes down to components at the end of the day and with these things being so complicated and mass manufactured then there is every chance someone will have an issue at some point. Couple of points though its the retailer who is obliged to sort you out during the guarantee period, not panasonic directly (although most choose this option) and if they gave you a 5 year guarantee form to send off Pana will void it if they get wind that you didnt purchace it in a store after a demonstration of the set so dont mention it.
The only way to get a replacement is to put the screws on the retailer as panasonic will just point you to your local DSN service agency. The mark of a brand is not that the units are infallible, its what they do for you as a customer when you experience problems

Thanks for the advice mate.
Will try the retailer first, see what he has to say.
Ideally a Replacement set as 4 months is nothing.
Whatever happens i think imay be without a TV for a while, lol

just ring your supplier up and tell them you got a problem with your tv...
they might just offer you a replacement or send someone to you to fix it...
if they got to take it away ask for a loan set mate....
thats why things got warrenties just in case something goes wrong.....
hope you get it sorted soon mate.....

never had any issues with panny,i will always keep on buying them,if you lost your receipt did you give your name and address when buying as they can pull it up on their system to copy receipt, now i do know you can get the odd one with a problem so you should have no problem in sorting it out.

As said above its down to the retailer to sort this out bud
Remember as well that the sale of goods act states that if a fault develops within six months of purchase, it is assumed the fault was present at time of purchase.
Basically meaning, sold faulty goods so they 'should' swap the set out really... if not repair, but I'd insist on a replacement.... failing that soon is poor... especially as its a panny as well.

update!
contacted Retailer (Electrocentre) in Handsworth Birmingham.
basically said if i read my Term and conditions of sale, then its up to me to to rerturn it to them!
For evaluation of Repair under warranty, they would not even consider replacement!
Seeing as this was bought online and Birmingham is a long way (6 hr round trip) to take a TV back, they can stick their crap customer attitude and went Direct to Panasonic.
Panasonic have refered me to my Nearest Service centre (1 Mile away) which i have Emailed to come out and repair under Warranty.
The only reason i Did not buy from them was i saved £250 on the Price they wanted for the same TV.
Lesson learned next time i will buy from John lewis and get the free 5 year warranty.
Mine only has 12 months, so will take out an extended warranty with either Panasonic themselves or a 3rd party Warranty Company.
Still pissed with A TV thats virtually unwatchable before picture drops!
Lets see how The service Centre handle things and Panasonic.
Keep you updated.

If I recall correctly mate, Their T&C's are irrelevent... to a point.
The SOGA (Sale of goods act) states, that if a fault develops within the first SIX months then the fault is deemed to have been there when the item was sold (produced)... there is no scope for them inspecting it I do not think... Although they can offer repair iirc.
Not certain who the onus is on to get the tv back to them, I would think its them tbh mate as under the act it could be deemed they have sold faulty goods and are being difficult in arranging repair.

Re: Problems with Panny G20 only 4 months old
Further update.
TV has been with my local Panny Service centre and not dropped picture once (sods law), but they accept that there is a fault as their fault reader is telling them thats there has been.
They are going to contact Panny and suggest a New main board and take it from there.

TV Sorted (so far, only first day back)!
Local Panny Service center, replaced A main board due to fault finder and visual inspection.
They noticed when it dropped picture if light pressure was applied to the mainboard it came back on.
So far i cant fault the service of my local service center ( considering i did not buy my G20 from them).
From friendly customer service, to keeping me updated on repair progress.
So 5 stars go to Paul Taylor djc Ltd my local Panasonic dealer.
Still think i might extend the warranty as mine only has the standard 12 months (not 5 yerars), i can purchase an extended warranty from Panasonic for £142 for 5 years.
Im just so glad to get my 42" back after watching my sons 19" LCD for the past 2 weeks.
So thanks to everyone for the advice and input on my Problem.
